22 Magnum Cylinder Checkout

Like many used Single Sixes, mine came sans 22 Mag cylinder. I procured a used cylinder which fits and functions normally.

I fully understand the cylinder alignment should be checked via range rod but I am way too thrifty/cheap to buy a range rod for a single use.

Is this a service most any gunsmith will offer? Any guess what sort of fee the would charge?

Thank you!

Andy

Over the years of gunshow browsing, I’ve lost track of the number of guns without critical parts because they got were separated and promptly forgotten about. Usually bolts without rifles or vice versa.
That being said, I need to find a magnum cylinder for my single six as well… 🤣

I purchased a cherry 1974 new model single six a few years ago and it didn’t have a magnum cylinder so I purchased a stainless cylinder off e*b*a*y…..it fits perfect……I then realized that my fluted original blue cylinder was too, a magnum. lol, all of my experience since the 1980’s to now, where I have owned 4 new models and all of the previous 3 have fluted long rifle cylinders and non fluted magnum cylinders. I actually knew this about some earlier ones but I assumed that 1974 being a new model/no warning billboard model would still have a non fluted magnum….and to top that off, I are a gunsmith….I need to find a long rifle cylinder now….but, I still have two of the other single sixes so, not a hurried worry lol…
