I have one with no serial number so early 1968. My other on has a serial number but I don't remember what year it related to.

Great buy on a great rifle! I bought mine in 1990 and used it for several ‘friendly’ matches where it paid for itself a couple times….congrats on a great shooter.

 

I picked one up at a local pawn shope a few years back that was in like new condition. The rifle shoots way out of its price range at 50 yards with CCI SS. Great find and ennjoy it.

Nice Mossberg, i just picked one up last week fof $100 more than you paid but without the rear sight and not quite as clean, but almost. (It had some crappy scope mounted that I chucked soon as got home and cleaned it). Ya done good! I havent shot mine yet. Let us know how she shoots!

Amazing buy! I have an LSA and wondering if I should add an LSB to the fold.

 

The LSA was the hardest one for me to find. Glad I waited, it's a beautiful piece.

But why stop at two, there are 5 different 144's to choose from. The LSB and US models are the only two with the heavy barrels.

 

I just picked up an LSA and can't get it to group worth a darn. 5 or 6 different ammos and can't find one the gun likes, What do you feed yours?

 

Don't know what kind of groups you are expecting??? Or your setup,, bench, scope ,bags, target distance, etc. ???

From what you have said, I would check for a bulge in barrel.
Run a tight patch down the bore and see if there is a loose spot.

BTW, how is bore and rifling, does bore need to be scrubbed with bronze brush & cleaner?

 

Haven't spotted any Mossey's in the wild in a couple of years. They seem to have denned up here in SE Texas. My LSB was wicked accurate when I bought it and the 142 is not bad, either. I'll keep hunting.

 

My LGS has an LSB for $400 but it is missing both sights, too rich for me.

 

That's almost top dollar for a complete one

 

I told them the same thing trying not to sound like a jerk.

 

Depending on the condition otherwise and their attitude, I might have offered half. Replacing the sights can be expensive, however, a decent scope and these things will shoot.
