Are you using the tool
for reassembly? It makes it easy peasy and I set mine with a bit more tension. Look up 10-22 magazine tool if you don’t have one. YT has plenty of vids on it also, check one out to see what you’re doing wrong.

I think many instructions say to turn the end plate two full turns. I found that to be too light (occasional failure to feed) and I turn mine 3 full turns.

Thank you. I’m fairly sure I went at least 3 and still seems light to me. Perhaps because the only tension comparison I have is a dirty mag that I haven’t touched yet. I’ll find out in am session. fingers crosse. Thanks!

 

I only have 15 of the 10 round mags, and all have the spring set the same (11 flats=1.8 turns). I've
shot them all A LOT, and never had any problems. Just keep 'em clean. YMMV

i always turn 8-9 flats so 1 and a half full turns. ruger overwinds the spring cause they build subpar magazines that bind up.
