I did 4 things to my three. Two were 30 second tasks. New Fire & Safe plugs in the 140K.

My 144LSA got the rear sling loop. Thanks to Havlin's for those parts.

Third, I cleaned & waxed my 151K barrel.

Fourth, I had a bug about the stock on the 151. The fore end had more lumps than Granny's mashed potatoes. She always did them by hand with one of the mashers with the square holes. 😆

I ended up block sanding the fore end. The wood is so nice I just couldn't leave it like that. I've noticed every Mossy I see is a little wavy here & there. The 151 needed the attention since it is running so well.

I started with 600 on my block to highlight the sides and create some shadows. Then I went to a coarser grit to work it a little harder. I got 95% of them out. Not looking for a show queen, just make it so one didn't look twice and wonder what the heck? A shot of each side now.

And there you have it, time for some rest.

What I did today was worked on the 140K. I plan to use it for our friendly silhouette shoots at our range. I wanted a lighter trigger pull, so I swapped out springs.

I tried a plunger spring change first. It really didn't do squat. Rifle was still bump safe.

Changed the trigger spring. Checked to be sure rifle was bump safe, but more vigorously.

Measured trigger pull. 2lb. 5.4oz. Still nice and crisp.

The remainder of my plan is to go with aperture sight for the Silhouette shoot. The rifle is nice and light, so standing and shooting won't tire me out. I'll have to section out the stock, no big deal. Should be fun!

NADA Sunday, went out shooting Saturday with one of my bests friends of 56 years, my son and another friend showed up with some of his full auto stuff.
I only had two CZ455's with me besides "Col.Stubby", my US Property 52C that had had the barrel shortened 4" sometime before I stumbled across it.
There were winds gusting up to 40 mph from my left so the .22's were challenging shooting at junk between 115-160 yards out. Very satisfying when I managed to score hits.
It got fairly cold and my physical condition was going down by the minute so my buddy loaded 40 rds of 5.56 in his SB H&K select fire SBR and said have fun, do a mag dump.LOL, I looked like a Weeble but had fun, it was nothing nothing like full auto M16's in Vietnam though.
It was a great day and built some good memories with my son and friends.
More fun today, first chemo and immunology today, so far I feel good but was warned to take a nausea pill tonight cause tomorrow might get 'interesting'.

I dug into the dark corners of my gun safe and dug out my Grandfather's 151b. I've had it since he passed away 35 years ago. I've never shot it. Just oiled it down and stored it. He used to keep it by the kitchen door. He tossed the trimmings from my Grandmother's apple pie makings and other greens in a pile in the woods. It drew in rabbits. When Papa wanted a rabbit, he would turn a light on and shoot one off the pile. Ah the good old days. Can't do that today. ( He lived in the village)
Anyway, I figured it would be fun to clean it with my 11 year old grandson and go shooting. I told him it will be his someday.

I got this rifle 1 year ago. It works great. As it should . But it was missing 1) front sight hood- got it, 2) both swivels - I am ambivalent , not sure how important they to me 3) the barrel rear sight -s107- just installed it: those 2 holes bothered me.
I finally scored parts for it from 3 different sources. Played a bit with the shape of the spring -washboard. Achieved the maximum clicking sound by the elevator every step, which = good fixed /tight position. Here is the logical sequence of installation.

I need the metal sling attachments for a 151(a)
Terry G check out havlinsales.com They have repo swivels available cheaper than what you may find on ebay. But still not a cheap item to replace.

STEINBVG
Thanks. I am not sure how old- no serial number.
They had no serial #'s as this one was before it was required. Your rifle was made from around 1947-1948, it's not rare, but uncommon to see one with a metal butt plate as most of the 151's you see have a thick plastic butt plate.

I picked up a 352 a couple of days ago. In pretty good shape. Has a chambering problem. Tweaked the magazine a little bit. It works cycling the action by hand. Its missing the rear peep sight. I want to get it running right before spending the money on a rear sight. The little 4X scope cleaned up and is pretty clear.

WOW.... Very Nice !!! What did you use to clean and wax the barrel ? I've got a Mossberg 44US(A) that is fully functional, but could use a little cosmetic attention like yours. BTW, I have used Havlin for several parts for my Mossberg and they are great. Enclosed is a picture of my Mossberg in the middle. I've since added the swivel hardware and scope hardware purchased from Havlin since this picture was taken.

I was fortunate that the 151K bluing was in really good shape to begin with. I used a little PB Blaster oil on a soft cloth all over it, wiped it down a few times, then good old Johnson's Paste Wax applied.
