Vostok CM-2 scope mount

I'm looking for information on the best way to mount a scope to my Vostok CM-2. It has the dovetail on the left side. Is it better to drill and tap the top, add weaver bases or a picatinny rail, or better to use the side dovetail?

Also, thank you to everyone that has posted so much valuable information about the CM-2. After reading the threads for a few weeks I just bought two of them from CDNN (one with sights, one without). They are at the gunsmith for their first checkup in 30 or 40 years!

Thanks for the posts.

I think for my situation the dovetail mount would be a good solution. I am planning on redoing the stocks on both rifles and then seeing which looks the best and is the best shooter. If I use the dovetail rail, I would just need one rail and one scope and I could use it to test both rifles without having to drill and tap both receivers.

Since I have never used iron sights I also like the idea of not modifying the rifle with permanent bases if I decide I like the iron sights best.
