For all of us on RFC today, there will only be one '22 in our lifetime, which clearly means that we all need to buy a .22. Seems like a perfectly enabling "reason" to put out there. 😁

So, have you done your part and bought a .22 this year?
Or one for a new child or grandchildren?
Maybe something that's been on your bucket list?
Heck, maybe you've been buying one a month in celebration!

Let us know what your level of participation is!

Does modifying an existing one that was gathering dust count? I built two folders using the Archangel stock from rifles that were just sitting in the safe. One of the folders that shoots sub 1/2 MOA seems to be getting more trigger time than my previous favorites, following me everywhere I go - INSIDE my laptop computer case!

Two sort of like a new 22 rifles doesn't seem sufficient, reading it in black and white. Would a 22 airgun count? With the price of ammo, I decided to jump on the runaway airgun train and bought a PCP (Pre Charged Pneumatic) air rifle that is very accurate out to 50 yards. I learned that the wind has significantly more influence on a 22 airgun "bullet" than a 22 LR. The best indoor group was sub 0.2" at 16 yards and it shoots sub 1" fairly regularly outdoors at 50 yards if the wind cooperates.

As for the cost of ammo, the most expensive pellets I bought were JSB brand @ 4 cents each and the cheapest were Walmart procured Crosmans @ $6.24 / 500 or ~ 1.2 cents each. Happily the Crosman pellets often equal or best the JSBs depending on the day as long as I look for dented skirts. I am going to try weight sorting some eventually.

I enjoy shooting the airgun just as much as my 22 rimfires and in some ways more. No need for hearing protection. I can shoot in my yard or in my house with nothing more than a good bullet trap and it is 90% cheaper to shoot. There is a steep entry cost for refilling PCP guns, but after that initial lump of cash for a tank or a compressor, you are shooting for just over a penny per shot from now on. You can get by with a hand pump if you aren't shooting a lot of rounds, but pumping gets tiresome very quickly. There are airguns out there that shoot around 1 MOA at 100+ yards and offerings in larger diameter bores from 25 up to 70 cal, with some significant muzzle energy for hunting on the big bores.

I've been doing pretty good so far. Only a High Standard D100 .22lr, a High Standard D101 .22 Mag and a GSG 1911.22. But I've purchased enough stuff from Voquartsen, Tandemkross and Klonimus to buy 3 or 4 more handguns. I sold off about 45 or 50 earlier to focus on building some custom handguns from the ones I kept. I have recently started to buy some OTRF (other than rim fire) but those don't count. Do they? No, of course they don't.

Hello, New to the forum, but I bought a Walther PPK/S in .22lr from Sportsman's Warehouse a couple months ago. Still waiting for the time to shoot it...

EDIT: And building my index finger strength to fire DA on the dang' thing...

I'm a slacker, haven't bought anything. I am intrigued by the SR 22 if that helps. At this time I'm more interested in finding ammo (at a reasonable price) and a place to shoot. I have two safes full of goodies waiting to get some exercise.

Wow! MonsterHog pulls into the lead with 13, with plenty of year left to go.

As far as what "counts", I would say any rimfire plus I think you have to allow for builds or restorations. Major builds and restorations. Tweaking up a perfectly good 10-22 wouldn't count, but pulling that old bare receiver from the back of your safe and giving it life sure would.
Same basic idea for restorations.

I have to say, the poll results really show the high enthusiasm level of RFC members. Very cool!

Marlin 39A
Remington 513T
Ruger LCPII
Ruger Wrangler
Ruger MKII Target
Savage MKII
Stevens 416
T/C Classic Benchmark
Winchester 52B
Winchester 69

We are just covering this calendar year and not last 12 months, correct? If so, that's all the .22's since January. I'm missing 70's and 80's, but I've got every other decade from the 30's to current production covered I believe.

I have to stay out of the LGS. Bought a Winchester 1906 today on lunch. 1st year production , 22 short only and paid $300. out the door. Dang it they hooked me again, but I'm glad to see I have not purchased the most so far this year. Thought I was the one with a problem but turns out its not me!!
