Subsonic raccoon hunting

When I started to gear up for raccoon hunting I originally tried a pellet rifle. Just not accurate enough for me. So I got a Ruger Ameerican in 22LR. I try to hunt as quietly as possible as not to scare away hogs. So I started with CCI Quiet 710 fps. Well that bounced off a raccoons head. Tried it again and same thing. Googled it and others had the same experience. So I went CCI velocitor and started dropping them. But kinda loud. Then I discovered CCI 1050 fps subsonic.
It has enough speed to kill a raccoon and fairly quiet. Fairly accurate. Then I tried standard velocity at 1070 fps and still subsonic. More accurate and head shots dropped them even though not a hunting round. I hunt at 25 yards. I know it doesn't scare hogs too much because I had them show up 30 minutes after a single 22lr shot.

Dear 25&50, I use those cci segmented subsonic hollow point bullets the 1050 f.ps. 25&50, you need to do your homework and call
The silencer shop, and they will do .
the work for you. They have really good ones. The hogs will not hear you. the Winchester 22 long rifle Silvertips are Molly Hatchet, I think they are close to stingers or velociters. 25&50, you get a can and you will never stay at home, you will be in the woods, waiting that sound that you never before but "can" now.
25&50, it's a little aggravating but not bad as when I went the process of finger prints,
2 or 3 pics, then go and talked to the
sheriff wait another month . It was like you was to be picked to be on the shuttle flight , if lucky. 25&50,
you probably like me , I worked at the
County schools , and they check from stem to stern
and no underwear either, just funnin.Take the plunge, it is aggravating but life can be that way, day to day. Let me kno 25&50 , and email
The silencer shop , they are legit. Buck.

Here you go: Buy Sub-Sonic HP for USD 13.99 | CCI

Use code FREESHIP for free shipping. You’re welcome.

Edit. I saw “subsonic “ and the “quiet” didn’t register. Just to be clear, they are called either “subsonic” or “quiet”, not “quiet subsonic”. The “quiet” and “subsonic” are two totally different cartridges.

All of the raccoons that I've encountered have been subsonic as well.

Those guys do have thick skulls and I too have experienced a 'quiet' round failing to make entrance to their brain cavity and having the bullet just get trapped between the skull and the skin and proving non-lethal in the DRT sense anyway. To me, it's a crap shoot whether or not you will get a clean kill using them [CCI Quiets @ advertised 710 fps]. I've not had that problem with the higher velocity shorts but wasn't really keeping records of exactly which one I was using, having both the LRN and HP bullet types on hand. Have yet to use any of the segmented rounds and today find myself wondering if the Aquila SubSonic Sniper rounds w/their 60 gr. bullet might not be the best of all, even tho that round requires a LR chamber to chamber correctly because of its longer OAL.

I shot one with a federal punch on the first shot. I hit center mass, it went completely through him and my garbage can behind him. He took off running. Follow up shots (3-4) were with cci subsonic HP's. I had chased him down and he turned around and snarled at me and I shot him in the face. Sometimes those things can be extremely tough. I shot another on top of the can, he fell in and I followed up with another after that just to be sure. I got the first one on video and I slowed it down and could see the bullet hit him and exit.
