I'm going to try this with my Romanian M69. That rifle has a sweet little trigger and can get 1/4" groups at 25yards with decent ammo and me doing my part... Too bad I have to wait until sunday to get to the range. :bthumb:

Excellent, I'll stop by Office Depot tomorrow and have them make 100+ copies as I think this may take multiple tries for me. These games you guys come up with are sure helping the ammo companies sell ammo!

one thing you might want to do is add bolt in the title to help eliminate some confusion...not to tell you what to do, just a suggestion...:t

 

Hmm I Don't think I can edit the title. I go to edit > advanced> and it just changes the little title on top of the post, not the one seen in the list.

 

You could contact Admin3 or Mr.X and ask them to change the title for you. I could do here in SuperStock but I can not in SuperStock Bolt Action.

I have yet to qualify for this one with my bolt guns. I got 4 with my Marlin though in Semi-Auto SS.

I got three with my winchester 69, with open sights. I'll have to try again next week when I go to the range. I was having issues with my other bolt action, so it was a no go.

There must be some other bolt action squirrel hunters here!

I know... guess they are too busy doin other things. I haven't been to the range in 2 weeks, I'm heading out tomorrow for sure. I have a few rifles to sight in, and a new lever action to play with.

I think I still have some squirrels printed, I'll try and give it another go with my bolts.

 

I'm going to shoot it sometime this week or weekend. Looks like fun. As you say, it looks easier than it is. I'll try to get my son to give it a go as well.

Well, no luck. I am not very good shooting off hand and the best I could do was 3 squirrels out of 6. First attempt I tried at 3x and second attempt was at 9x. I had my best results at 5x and will attempt this again next time I am at the range.

Tomorrow I'll probably poke around on the net for some tips on how to shoot off hand.

 

I will be trying this tomorrow as I attempted it with a semi-auto in another forum. Several of my bolt actions have slings and that seems to be the difference for me as I can hit a bowling pin at 100 yards with my .22 magnum almost every shot when using a sling. I know, the head is smaller but I think I will give it a good run.

That is the only link I bookmarked to read again later. I just googled "offhand shooting" and didn't feel the need to read past the first two pages of results. I had been trying the target style, leaning back with forward arm tucked in. Next time I'm going to try the more open style with my arm perpendicular under the forearm and right elbow out to the side.

The comments in the link about muscle fatigue also make a lot of sense and should help quite a bit. I was thinking about starting an upper body exercise regimen but I am not that weak, heh. I just checked google again, and these are two other links I found helpful:

Thanks for the link. I have snap caps as I do occasionally practice dry firing with my centerfire rifles. I found one problem I had on the other version of this game was that the rifle I tried it with was over 8.5 pounds and that is a bit much for me. I have a couple of lightweight bolt actions that I am going to attempt this with in the morning.

My Savage Mk II weighs 6 lbs with the scope, and 7 lbs with the bipod attached. I may attach the bipod next time I try this, as the front end weight may help a bit. Probably will give it a go both ways. Can't wait to try again...

 

Finally got the target downloaded and some (probably not enough) of them printed.

I copied the .png version to the hard drive and then opened with the photo software instead of IE.

I never did get the pdf links to work.

the .pdf file is opened with adobe reader..

the .doc file is opened with Microsoft word, your computer should have this already installed.

Otherwise, download the image file, and you have to scale it so it all prints on 1 page... if you don't it will print only 2 squirrels per page. :bthumb:

 

I made it today and will post the pictures later after the cat leaves my lap. I was wondering if we can qualify more than once as I have several rifles I want to try to use in this game. I only shot one of the bolt actions today as after about 100 offhand shots I was completely worn out. I had no idea how tiring offhand shooting can be and I was using my lighter weight rifles.

You can qualify as many times as you want, only once for each rifle, I'll keep your highest score with that rifle.
