Hello

How would you rate the condition of this k-22m

Model 17 are generally great shooting revolvers! This looks to be in relatively good condition but it's very difficult to tell from just a few pictures on a web site. Not sure what's going on with the blotchy looking bluing. It may just be dried oil or grime. But I'm a shooter not a collector so the condition of the finish doesn't overly concern me. Is the bore free of rust or pits and does it have sharp riffling? Check the crown for chips or dents. Does the cylinder to lock up nice and tight with a minimum of play in any direction, front to back or rotationally? If possible check to make sure that the trigger hasn't been butchered by a kitchen table gun smith wannna-be. The DA trigger pull should be smooth and consistent with a distinct 'wall' and then release abruptly. Often describer as breaking a class rod or breaking an un-cooked spaghetti noodle. The SA trigger pull should be a lot lighter than the DA trigger pull but it should not be too lite.

Well pictures can be deceiving. It can either make a gun look better or worse than it actually is. If my aging eyes are being truthful, it looks like a very nice piece. I would say 95 to 98%, excellent condition. Without handling it one can’t see how the timing is and other things that are important when it comes to looking at a revolver. Is this something you’re selling or buying?

You'll be sorry. My brother had one years ago, traded it toward something else he wanted at the time. He kicked himself for a long time until he finally found another K-22 at a fairly reasonable price to replace it. I shot his original one many times when we lived near each other and use to shoot together. I have yet to see one come up in any of my local gun stores.

I owned an absolute mint model 17 k-22 8"-er original box and paper work just gorgeous shot it a while then sold it.
I still like the 617 better.
I just cant deal with a 6 shot 22 revolver. Had a Colt diamond back also..absolutely mint with box and paperwork. These guns were collectors grade. Shot it awhile and sold it.
that masterpiece, and the diamond back wasnt anymore accurate then my 4" 617.
(AND) my 617 trigger is smoother.
and has lighter pull. Im gonna assume that is because my 617 is used and these two guns sat in a there box..the S&W didnt even have a turn ring yet..it was from 1978 ..not old, just seasoned
I just wanted to toss that out there incase some one is on the ledge..personally i wouldnt buy ether knowing what i know now..
If your looking for a shooter i would stick with a 617..if your looking to add bling to your collection..then you want the colt.
If your a pined barrel S&W loyal fan. Well then you have no choice but the purchase the 17 k-22 masterpiece..
I couldnt even tell you going street price now a days..i think mine sold for 900-1200 during covid pandemic. But i sold alot of guns then..i wish i would have waited longer to sell ..but the timing was right. As i moved and didnt want to drag all those guns around any more. They were fun, something to do i suppose. It was great buy and selling..picking up and droping off..some times ya made money..most of the time your just breaking even if your lucky ..but i believe i could enjoy owning a mail order gun and optics shop. That seems to be up my alley. I was pretty good at it
Good luck with your sale.
I would say that gun is 95% its clean from what i can see.
Is that a replacement box or original? Got paperwork and cleaning kit. IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE on price.

Ehhh ..they didnt stop making them . Better steel, better barrels, better triggers in 2025.
Sell it and use the money for the family.
That would be my suggestion no one asked for haha
Its always a pleasure to see a beautiful S&W.
Ill pick S&W over any ones revolver..well maybe not korth..lets be reasonable..hahaha
