OK pistoleros, we will keep things consistant and repeat last month's format, then next month we will try something new. So for September, we will have 3 different matches, 3 different targets for this month.
There will be a 25 foot and a 50 foot match. There is also an optional 25 foot match for the "Gluttons for Punishment". These are each separate matches; participate in any combination that you like, or try them all.
Please Note: Will be using Eric Brooks' targets from his website. I call Eric the "demi-god of the CZ 452"; his site has all sorts of good gear and accuracy enhancements, and his target page of free downloads is killer. Thanks Eric!
Match #1: 25 feet, 24 bulls
1) Use the staggered, black and white, 8 bulls per page USBR practice target that was created by Eric Brooks. You will need Adobe Reader to view this file, which is free and you probably already have it. The best thing would be to save the target to your computer, then print from Adobe Reader.
Print the targets on 8.5x11 paper, at 100% size with no page scaling. The inner most ring is the 10 ring, it should measure .10". the outer edge of the 8 ring should measure .55", and the outside of the 4-ring should measure 2.05".
2) Print 3 copies. Print others for practice if you like. BUT, only three record shot pages, so declare these before you shoot. No shooting of multiple pages, and taking the best scores.
3) Measure off 25 feet from the face of the target to the line you put your tootsies on. If you don't have a 25 foot tape, use a a ruler or yardstick and measure off a 25 foot piece of string, and take this with you the range.
4) You may shoot one or two handed, or both. No rests, no aiming braces, etc. This is an "offhand event".
4) Any optics you want. Any rimfire handgun is legal.
5) Take as long as you want with each target.
6) Score by the best edge of a bullet hole. If the hole touches the line of a higher scoring ring, it counts. No scoring plugs are used since this is thin printer paper. No "obsessing" over points is allowed. If it's too close to call, ask your mommy. If she's no help, score it DOWN.
7) No more than 1 shot should be in each bull. If there is more than 1 shot in a single bull, the highest scoring shot (or shots) in that bull should be scored ZERO, the lowest scoring shot in the bull is the only one that counts.
8) You score an X if no black from the tiny .10" 10 ring is visible. In other words, if the bullet cleanly punches through the 10 ring, and the hole AND/OR the grease lead marks show that the all of the black ten ring was hit, score an X. If you are not sure, go ask mommy. If she doesn't know either, score it down.
9) The maximum score possible is 240-24x.
Match #2: 50 Feet, 16 bulls
Shoot at 50 feet, using 2 pages of a slightly a different target. Use this target, the "USBR Iron Sights Target". ONLY 16 BULLS ARE SHOT AT 50 FEET. The maximum score possible at 50 feet is 160-16x.
And finally...
Match #3: Gluttons for Punishment: Shot at 25 Feet
For those of you who enjoy adversity, try this one. Use Eric's practice targets that include only the 7 ring and higher. Shoot one page of 25 bulls at 25 feet. Wassa matta, ya scared or what?!
Maximum score possible is 250-25x. I won't be surprised if someone scores higher in this than in the normal 25 feet match.
Report scores in the manner used in the BR matches. That includes your real name, please. If you want to keep your real name private, use an initial for your last name.
