A history lesson: When we started up the original SuperStock there were many claims about "My stock Ruger/Marlin/Savage can shoot XXX size groups all day long". We knew that some of these were hard to believe. But one man, Sawdust, figured out a way to both put a stop to the outrageous claims and to give us a way to PROVE that our rifles would shoot well. He started the 1/4" Club. He also changed RFC forever. All these games that we have so much fun with or that drive us crazy or even become an obsession started right there with Sawdust. Our tribute to the man will be The Sawdust Challenge.
The rules, then and now are simple. SSB rifles only. You shoot four 5 shot groups on the same target from a minimum of 25 yards. You also shoot 4 individual holes. These holes are measured for diameter and those 4 measurements are averaged. That average is used to subtract from the outside to outside group measurements. If that measurement is .250" or less that group is good. If you get FOUR out of FOUR you have met the Challenge...........the Sawdust Challenge.
Good luck and good shooting.
Please note:
Any target submitted must has been shot AFTER this Challenge began.
Measuring holes must be well away from the groups and positioned in such a way as to be IMPOSSIBLE to interpret as fliers.
