Has anyone compared the Savage MKII FV-SR to the Marlin XT-22 VR?

Just curious how they compare. They are in the same basic price range.

I have a fvsr and my son in law has the xt-vr. Let's say I think I'd trade him lol. Accuracy wise with their chosen ammo I'd say they're equal. i added a kydex cheek riser to my stock but The marlin stock is a better fit and feel with the beaver tail type buttstock and its i guess you would say recessed for your thumb/wrist at the grip. Marlins stock puts you better in line with the scope and fits your hand better. But the savage has the 16" threaded barrel and the marlin is a recessed crown 21 or 22".

I bought a FV-SR earlier this year. It does not compare with my old pre e receiver MK II except the magazine works better which was a problem with the earlier MK IIs. It is not as accurate and the trigger isn't as good. The cheesy plastic stocks are about the same if you plan on keeping the factory stock.

I have no experience with the newer Marlins.

Savage Mark II BV VS Marlin XT 22

My Marlin would only shoot well with Lapua Midas +..All other ammo would produce fliers and semi-good accuracy. Bot the Savage to replace it. Savage so far has given me .75 to 1" groups in strong wind at 50 yds. Plus, I was using less than $10 a box ammo (Eley Club)...Savage is a far superior 22 IMO.

But.... my mark ii g without the accutrigger (dicks special) with the pen spring and shim trick will out shoot both the fv sr and the marlin. The dicks sporting version is an e receiver with no accutrigger. That trigger with the spring and shim mod is at or under #1. The g's factory wooden stock is made by boyds. A lot of people don't know that but the boyds logo is engraved into the barrel channel. Lots of people pass on it cause of the sporter barrel, but it's never hindered mines performance.

I have the predecessor, the Marlin 521 & a golden 39A that I like a lot, not to mention a couple of Marlin M60s that shoot way better than they should.
But, for the tightest shooting bench rest matches that we have locally, I use my Savage FV-SR bolt & the A-22 is not far behind.
Todays match involved a bunch of ants & flies (1/4"-3/8" size at 30 yards. If I did my part, I was getting them!
