Ok I need help I want a super accurate 22 and my choices are a S&W 41 or a IGI DOMINO Model 602 Rapid fire .22 Short. The 602 is lightly used and the 41 is new. So which one should I buy for serious target shooting accuracy and reliabilty are a must?

I don't have any experience with the 602 but I can tell you the S&W 41 is a great gun. I've shot one that belonged to a friend of mine and I wish he would sell it to me.:bthumb: I work in a gun shop and a 41 came in and never made to the shelf before the owners son grabbed it. ( Darn I wish I was there when it came in:( ) Hope I helped ya and good luck with your decision,

BRIAN

I am familar with the FAS Domino 602. The 601 is a 22 short, the 602 is a 22LR (current model is 607), and the 603 is a centerfire 32 S&W long. The FAS Domino 602 is a full-on World class competition pistol. This pistol has won world championships. Everything adjusts even trigger location can be moved. The 602 outclasses the S&W 41 in everyway with 2 exceptions. The 602 ejects the rounds straight up and the magazine goes inside the receiver; this makes it realy tough to mount any kind of optic sight if that is your intent. The other issue is parts. It is much easier to get parts or find a gunsmith for a 41 than any FAS. If you pick up both of them, you will see the difference immediately, the 602 feels that much better. I have owned both of these guns. The 602 is the one I kept for shooting in international style competition. I hope this helps.

Excellent call Saleen322, the FAS 602 is one of the best ever but parts and support are getting tough to find. The company is still going but there is not much of a following here in the U.S. My FAS 603 runs perfectly, hopefully it continues. I've bought spare parts from a guy in Australia.
I've only been shooting bullseye for 10 years, just a rookie I know, and I've seen very few Model 41's on the line. I've always heard they are ammo finicky.
You have to determine what events you are shooting. The FAS 602 was developed for 25 meter standard pistol, with no regard to 50 yard accuracy. The model 41 was made for NRA Conventional which has a 50 yard phase. Typically the U.S. made guns shoot better 50 yard groups but the Euro-guns have much more refinement, i.e. grips, trigger adjustments and I think they point better. I shoot a High Standard for NRA matches and a Pardini for Int'l Standard.
In my opinion the new 41's are very overpriced for what you get. If you can test fire the 602 to determine if it's reliable you would be getting a much better pistol.

Do you really want to use an out of production pistol designed for a defunct game and be shackled to the .22 Short cartridge?

Rapid fire is shot with .22LR now.

Priced R25 lately?

My FAS cycled CCI CB Shorts reasonably well.

FAS .22 Short has no extractor. Dud? Get out your pocketknife.

Not to say these aren't outstanding gallery pistols.
