Can a 34 Diana be dated by the serial. T 05 trigger. I bought it years ago but just cant remember when. Old farts syndrome. I am thinking 14-15 years ago.

Thanks

I'm not sure as I have 2 RWS/Diana 34 Classics with T06 triggers both in .177, one bought in 2013 the other in 2015. Try giving Umarex a call @ Phone: (479) 646 - 4210 Ext. 7 or email service@umarexusa.com as they imported them and may can help you.

Btw, the 34 is one of the most accurate break barrel air rifles I've ever shot and am really dismayed that Diana dumped them for the 34 EMS before I could buy the Classic in .22. The 34 Classic was the all time best selling break barrel air rifle.

Out of curiosity, what were the change(s) ?

I found a nice mid-production M34 for a friend a bit ago, and have a general interest in the progression of model changes.

The diana rifles have the date stamped on the left rear of the compression tube, mo-yr, unless umarex dropped that practice. The screw is used as a stop for rings without an arrestor stud. I too miss the better quality diana rifles and hated it when they dropped the 36. Umarex has really cheapened the line... sad. If I can find another pre-1999 model 36 i will buy it, but the pickings have been slim of late.

My understanding is that the rail was not intended to be a scope rail but the mount for the target peep sight assembly, the screw was the 'stop' for a recess beneath the peep sight base. It is not large or strong enough to be an adequate scope stop.
Yes, people have used them as scope rails, some with success until the 'stop screw strips out, but often the barrel droop issue requires the special mount.
My early RWS 45 barely worked with my scope that had a lot of elev adjustment but the screw was quickly knocked loose; had to machine a dbl screw dovetail stop block to clamp on, and clamp Tight!
Btw, dont even try to use sgl screw scope bases, only dbl screw And a stop block.
And many so called 'air-gun rated' scopes will still fail. After much frustration I went to the peep sight.

RWS branded rifles were imported under a deal between Umarex and Diana. That deal ended a couple years ago and Umarex sold off their remaining stock of the RWS branded rifles at bargain basement prices. Also, good luck getting them to honor any warranties on the guns they did sell since members of other forums I belong to said they got no end of grief when they tried.

Diana was sold in 2014 to a company called German Sport Guns GmbH. While the 34 and up are still made in their German plant, any of the lesser rifles are now made in China and you can tell them by the names. Where they used to have models like the 240 and 250 among others, those model numbers are now spelled out, for example 250 is now Two Fifty and the 240 is now Two Forty and the importer of record is a company called Blueline.

Also from another forum I belong to, a member who works with Diana as an advisor and was involved in the 34 EMS concept said they've changed course and while they'll still be making the new Diana 34 EMS rifles, the EMS part is now off the table and the company has no plans to offer at least the barrels for sale, so for anyone who may have bought one with intent to buy the other caliber barrel when they finally came out, sorry guys, not gonna happen.

If you want the gas ram option to go with your spring you can still do that. You'll just need to find a retailer that sells them as replacements which may not be an easy trick since the Diana 340 N-Tec gas rammed rifles were discontinued when the 34 EMS came to market.

The compression tube dovetail is intended for scopes and peep sights. It is 11mm and sportsmatch mounts are your best bet for trouble free function. The rear screw protruding from the rear of the rail is a stop, however using 3/8" mounts wont provide a sufficient contact patch and this sole reliance on the small stud would be taxing.
The rifles are still assembled in germany at the Diana factory, though sadly the rumor is that parts are being manufactured in communist China. Thanks Umarex, for nothing, cheap, low grade garbage outsells quality guns... just the way of things.
