This thread is to determine if I want the Ruger barrel or not. As Mr Whelen said, only accurate rifles are interesting. It is curiosity at this point.

 

Aftermarket barrels.... I love the idea and want a kidd barrel for my charger but do I really need it for my charger 😂

I like how the barrel looks but the thread protector is horrendous. If I had one, I'd have to make a better looking thread protector.

Ruger sent me one of those barrels to review, and I'm taking it out today. While I expect it's better for speed than precision, I'm starting out with a scope rather than a reflex sight.

 

Today was windy, so no shooting for groups. But empty shotgun shells were easy to hit out to 50 yards or so, with a 6-24x scope. I was all set to dismiss this barrel as light but not too accurate. Now I'm less sure.

 

Mine is very accurate also.

 

If anyone decides they don’t want theirs, hit me up. I bet I could make it shoot better.

I would strongly recommend Kidd barrels

 

The barrels Kidd makes are good, but Kidd does not make a carbon fiber barrel.

 

No they do not, but their Lightweight fluted is very accurate, have one on my varmint gun comes in under 6 lbs.

 

It's already been pointed out that KIDD doesn't offer carbon fiber barrels, which is the topic of this thread. KIDD steel barrels are excellent, but their aluminum sleeved barrels don't shoot any better than an Acculite, despite the considerably higher cost.

Mine mounted up on a Blackhawk Axiom R/F stock, BX trigger. Haven't gotten out the range yet.

Ordered from Dack Outdoors. $144.41, no tax, and they periodically run free shipping specials. It does take awhile to ship though, and USPS had it sitting in distribution centers for a few weeks as well. Ordered back at the end of May, was just delivered yesterday.

Total weight is 3lbs 11.3oz (no mag). Stock barrel was 28.85oz, new Ruger CF barrel measured 16.5oz.
