Ruger 22/45 lite- terrible trigger

I bought a MK111 22/45 lite to carry while walking my dog. My dog passed away
And I quit using the pistol.
Recently got it out and found out how truly
Awful the trigger is.
Took gun apart and polished top of trigger
Return plunger- trigger bar- magazine disconnect- sear and hammer.
Maybe a little better but not much.
Is the a reasonable fix for this.

I made the same purchase. I am going to try to polish the grit out of it but will probably end up spending the money for an aftermarket trigger. I have owned a few very similar pistols in the past and they. always had decent or at least usable triggers. You would. think the longer the lineage the better the design would be. They certainly went backwards on this one.

At best, the new Ruger Mk3’s and 4’s are good starter kits. I put VQ trigger kits in all of mine. Get rid of the LCI while you are at it … VQ also sells a blank to fill the hole where the LCI resides. These simple changes will make your pistol more enjoyable to shoot.

I also replaced the various stock trigger parts from Volquartsen rsulting in my Mark I shooting a lot better.

With the “Lite” version having a polymer frame the other improvement you might want to consider is replacing it with a metal frame if the additional weight is not a concern.

Replacing the LCI was a must do for me. My MKIII is a 5.5" barreled model with the metal grip, so that dinky plastic LCI was not an option. I have heard of cycling issues that led people to replace the LCI with a filler. I will say that the fillers are cheap, improve aesthetics, and are becoming hard to find. I get the feeling that all of them available are NOS. So they may not be available in the future.

As others have said do the LCI delete, and use a Volquartsen kit to replace the internals. I bought MK III 22/45 to have a sub-caliber practice tool with the same mechanics as my carry guns. Hated it as the trigger pull meant it didnt come close to any of my SA carry pistols. Too long, too heavy, too gritty, too much creep, and I couldn't shoot a decent group w it if I tried hard. Volquartsen made a world of difference so now the only thing I dislike is the lack of an ambi safety. And w ammo it likes, it shoots better than I can hold off-hand with 1" at 10-15 yards now being the norm for 5 shots. I was to the point where had the VQ kit not worked I was going to sell it and move on and now it goes every range trip.

My VQ kit will be here today.
The USPS bounced it around for 10 days.
It is showing out for delivery so I should get
It today.
Will strip and clean frame and all parts
be for I even open the new kit.
Should be shooting it tomorrow.

My kit came , cleaned the gun after disassembly.
Reassembled gun with new parts. Total time
1-1/2 hr mostly disassembly and cleaning.
Assembly was easy ,sear spring was done
With small long nose pliers.
Vast improvement.I assembled dry no oil
because .22 ammo is so dirty but I may
Pull pins and lightly lube them.
I am happy with the VQ kit and would
Recommend it.

Dave,
sorry about your dog but it sounds like the trigger worked out.
I also put VQ in all my Ruger Mark pistols. it's a big improvement over the factory.
good luck!
