My church gun is a SR1911 OM in 9mm: easy to conceal & 8 shots on tap.
I live in the country surrounded by hunting plantations. The closest neighbor in one direction is 1 1/4 mile away. In the other direction about a 1000 yd. shot.
My constant companion (next to my recliner) is a 3" GP100 in .44 spec. (5 shot) with my cast 250 gr. SWC chosen for the largest meplat @ a moderate 750 fps. I do not consider the reduced capacity of the GP100 a handicap: It'll only take 1 per intruder.

I also like the heavy swc's and use a 245gr swc hp using a standard +/- 15,000psi load end up with 830fps load. Also like a 200gr wc using the same 15,000psi load end up with a 835fps load.
