Remington 521T

I just received a 521T and shot it today. I am surprised at its accuracy at 50 yards. This is the first time out and I am pleased, however, I am having trouble adjusting the sight. I tried to turn the sight to raise the POI, but it is very stiff, and I am afraid of damaging it. Is there a lock screw or other point that is keeping me from turning the knob?

The rifle is shooting fine, however, the magazine included in the sale does not fit properly. The bolt does not pick up the round. It drags across the cartridge. I solved the problem by buying a 10 round mag from Midway; it works fine. The supplied magazine is about 1/8 inch or so too short. What Remington rifle could this one fit? I'd like to sell it in order to recoup some of the money I put out for the new one plus I have no use for it.

Does the magazine have Remington written across the bottom? The originals do. Most repros I see have a capitol R on the bottom. If you compare the notch in the back where it latches into rifle is it the same as the one that works? Maybe a mag from a different brand that has been modified?

Dear Steve K,

You should have little problem purchasing a 521T magazine. There are plenty of good ones on "fleabay" - originals (with Remington stamped on the base) or new ones (with an underlined R on the base). The 5-round magazines work very well and the 10-round magazines - even the originals - are, in my experience, suspect and don't feed as well as the 5-round.

With their target stocks, micrometer sights and the bolt handle off a 513T, I've often heard the 521T referred to as a target-model Remington 511. And just like the 511, they seem to be quite accurate!

Cheers,
AQBill
