Consistent Accuracy...

Stuff' - I did a quick calc. on your 40XB Sporter accuracy, and throwing out the 'high' and 'low' CTC's for the remaining 5 groups, its accuracy comes in at 0.27" CTC @ 50yds. !!! Just like I'm getting on mine!

These sporters are 'consistenly' very, very accurate. :bthumb:

They do shoot awful good! That first group was fired from a clean barrel. She settled in pretty good with a little fouling :bthumb: Not only are the 5 shot groups good, the placement on the target is also consistent.

In all fairness they are borderline "sporters" in my eye. They're either a chunky sporter or a skinny target rifle. They sure are fun to shoot either way!

CMP 40X HB Pics

I've never shown you guys my CMP 40X HB. It was made in 1965.

I got it in the first release of 40X's. it came w/ all the scope / sight blocks. An extremely fine shooter!

I put real Weaver bases, Burris Signature Zee rings and a Sightron 36X scope on it.

'Original' Left Hand - 40XB Sporter

Below are a couple of reference pics my good friend has allowed me to show of his 'original' Rem. CS Sporter (Left Handed). Only 4 - 5 Left Handed 40X were made, and all had the RH action config.

For documentation purposes the Rem. CS stockmaker cut the walnut stock by CNC' by 'mirror-imaging' the cut parameters and leaving the ejection port relief for a std. RH action.

The avg. time necessary to create a stock for the 40XB Sporters was between 2 - 2.5 months. Very labor intensive with the mulitple steps necessary for the DuPont RK-W Gloss finish.

Rare 40XB Sporter/Repeater Grade 'D'

John Gyde has graciously given me the opportunity to show some pics of a 40XB Sporter/Repeater 'D' Grade he owned in his collection at one time. I believe that John mentions in his book that ~ 12 Grade 'D' and Grade 'F' 40XB Sporter/Repeaters were ever created.... This example sports the thin Pachmayr butt pad...

I cropped some of the images down to reveal the detail of the engraving that the Rem. CS performed on this rare 'D' Grade Sporter/Repeater.

Enjoy !!!
