Project Update

I ordered a reamer today so maybe I'll finally get my barrel hole drilled. I hope to have the receiver finished by the end of the weekend. Will post progress as it happens.

Finally finished it! It has it's flaws, but I think it went together pretty well for my first 80% build.

Nope didn't have to open the bolt, and the bottom of the bolt was already milled to clear the magazine when I got it. I think Phil? from select fire got enough complaints and milled then to clear the magazine before he sell them.

Sorry to hijack, but what trigger group do you guys use on these magnum builds? Does the company sell them aswell? Do you use a standard 10/22 and upgrade the spring?

I've been thinking about building one of these in 17 hmr. I built two of their 10/22's last fall as a practice run. Came out pretty good. One went into a benchrest stock, the other my buddy put into a modded carbine lightweight.

Same problem with the barrel holes. I finally drilled one size undersized on my drillpress setup. Then I chucked up an expanding reamer and snuck up on the fit I was after. Probably not the best way, but great final results if you take you time. Got the large bit set and expanding reamer set from harbor freight. cost me less than $60 with coupon. Much less than one dedicated reamer would have cost me. Proof positive that it can be done on a drillpress....

The trigger group is the same as the 10/22. All the improvements work the same way...

Yup I'm gonna build a 17 HMR, right after I get my marlin model 60 17 HM2 going.

Im using a stock ruger 10/22 trigger group. Stock spring, might get a light fin strike every 50 rounds or so but works fairly well.

I am a bit computer challenged but it seems this link goes somewhere not related. Please correct me if I am wrong cause it’s driving me crazy.
this kind of thing will happen when you dig up 10 year old threads
