Could I get an approximate value for this scope? It is a fine target dot, matte, target knobs. Last time I asked for help with pricing a rifle, an over zealous moderator shut me down for asking, what I thought was a reasonable question.
Thanks, Mike

Natchez just had brand new VX-3 6.5-20Ă— FCH on sale for somewhere in the mid $600's. That's the cheapest I've seen them for by quite a bit. But that's also the newer model that's supposedly a little better. From what I've seen them sell for used I would say around $400-$450 would be a decent price.

BobSc, I don't know what gun shows you visit but I don't visit the same ones! The wife and I take in 5 or 6 shows a year and I can't buy a dollar bill for less than a dollar and a quarter! Not like it was in the 70's and early 80's ! I buy several used Leupolds every year , haven't bought one at a show for 10 years, and yes I would pay $550 for a good clean one if I was looking, maybe if I wasn't looking!

Well, it's not a contest. Different parts of the country will have different prices, doesn't matter if it is rifles, scopes, or marbles..... those are the prices I've seen at some gun shows. In fact, a buddy just picked up a gloss VariX III 6.5 x 20 last weekend at a gun show for $275. Killer deal, for sure, but they are out there if you keep your eyes open.... What I find is the ones that are at the top end of the scale are usually still on the table at the end of the show, and the next one, and the next one after that.....

I just looked at Natchez, have never saw a 6.5x20 EFR at that price. $599 . Still see a good average price of about $550 for a used one, with a dot. but I still doubt if you will be seeing many excellent condition used ones for less than $550, Natchez sale price or not. But, I think I will go ahead and get one from Natchez, just to have it. That is a great price!

And now you've got overzealous posters telling you your scope is worth more than the cost of a new one, which is three generations newer (Vari-XIII to VXIII to VX3 to VX3I).
I just passed on a scope like yours for $400. , I think it was probably worth that but until Leupold announces the status of their custom shop I'm hesitant to invest in more of their products, especially older examples like yours.

I don't think I could pass one up for $400. And I also don't think anyone posted a suggested price that isn't right along the lines of what the used ones have been selling for lately. That $599 price from Natchez is by far the cheapest they've ever had them. Their price is usually just over $1000 for the new VX-3. The cheapest I had previously found them new was around $850. The Natchez price is a sale and won't last.

BobSc, I would pay $350 ( may go a little more) for a few leupolds That I described. which was perfect condition glass and scope tube with a dot and EFR. If you could buy them in your area for less than that you could make some money by selling them to me and I will pay the shipping. P.M. me if you are interested. I buy a good bit of Leupolds. I just don't see scratched ones around here for that price let alone the ones as I described.

motovita, the value of something is only what someone is willing to pay for it, not what everyone is willing to pay. different areas seem to be different. But anyhow, We can only give information based on our experiences and where we live. natchez wants to run a whale of a deal on a scope that's fine when that goes away the guys that are spending $750 for a scope are not going to sell it for $375 at least around here they're not. I have bought that exact scope for a friend in the past 4 months. he said he would go $550 and that's what I gave. That was the value of the scope to a man that was willing to pay it. Put the OP's scope on display around HERE for $550 and it won't last very long. I don't believe he asked what it was worth in all fifty states or what everyone was willing to pay. I believe he knew he would get varying answers. Nothing over zealous about my answer and I don't have a grudge against Leupold because of their custom shop or anything else.
