Finally got a kick butt deal on a 1992 Ruger 10/22 Carbine with metal trigger housing, metal barrel band, walnut wood stock, and billet bolt basically back in the day when they were built good.

I purchased my 1995 Ruger 10/22 in 1995 brand new for (from memory that is fading fast) $135.00 at the local Walmart gun counter. It is now equipped with a 2x7 Leupold Rimfire scope (ideal for squirrels) and shoots as well today as it did back in the day. Concur with all trigger comments but I love stock old guns! I did purchase a 75th anniversary 10/22 this year, mounted a Leuopld 3x9 33mmAO scope and compete at the Talladega CMP Legend 100 yard bench rest monthly match. Just as back in 1995; The gun shoots way better than the shooter! HA! HA! There is no other thing I know of that one could buy for this amount of money and have this much fun.

Nice find for you, it gives you lots of leeway to do whatever you like with it. I have one from around that era that someone bought new and then carried around behind the seat of their pickup for about 10 years. Virtually never shot but beat up. I bought it for $75 as a donor for a build. Took the skinned up stock and barrel off, put a Hogue stock and Shaw barrel on it, a Volquartsen trigger kit in it, a BSA scope and a used Harris bipod and still was under $400 on the package. Still my favorite Pasture Poodle rig.

Here it is with its brethren, all bought cheap. The center one was brand new but ten years old that I bought last year for $175 and have added the scope, high comb on the factory stock, and a BX trigger. The plain Carbine on the bottom was a Cabelas Christmas Special a few years back that was an online only purchase but only $159. It now has a Bushnell Banner scope on it that was a flash sale deal from Natchez for $29.95 and a BX trigger! With diligence it is easy to keep the cost down and the fun factor up!!

Nice find looks really good. I own 3 of the newer ones and I have to say they are all built really well. The Cabonfiber, Competition and the left hand grey birch chassis with carbon fiber barrel. These all shoot very well .
I do understand your like for the more original models. I recently found a left hand Winchester M 70 so I understand the wood and steel attraction.
Enjoy your rifle!

Looks a lot like mine from the mid- to late-'60s.... After purchase spent a lot of time rubbing boiled linseed oil to stock. Not shot all that much until recently and now not all together but I can return it to 100% factory when I want. The receiver is in a PMACA with Tac-Sol barrel, and BX trigger. Shooting SCSA with it. Have everything that came out box and stored so it can be returned to 100% factory. You made a great find.
