My daughter came up to our place from K.C. to visit for a week to use some of her vacation days since Covid has so much shut down. She mentioned that she wanted to shoot with me on at least one of those days, so we did. I let her try a couple of .22 pistols and my Nylon 66 and Ruger American Rimfire and it was the Nylon 66 for the win.
My scoped RAR was hard for her to hold, but the 66 with a peep rear sight was just right. Personally, I love shooting targets, trying for the smallest group, so I tried her with a target first but that was too boring, so we moved on to cans, and then some clay pigeons, with the clay pigeons being the most fun for her. She said she loved seeing them bust when hit, so we shot up a bunch of them.
It had been a long time since either of my now adult kids wanted to shoot, so the day was a total blast for me. I was proud of how well she hit the pigeons, but even more proud that she remembered safe gun handling from many years ago.
I guess there's hope for this younger generation after all!
