I bought a old really beat up rifle with a (repaired) damaged stock with a partial break through the wrist. When I got the rifle it had been repaired buy drilling a hole through the stock from the inside behind the trigger area down through the bottom of the stock and out the grip bottom. A length of all thread with a nut and washer on both ends inserted and tightened to stabilize the cracked area of the stock. A notch has been cut into the grip cap area to keep the nut and washer below the grip. The all thread was actually protruding below the grip so I dremeled/cut it down to below the area of the grip. (I loosened the all thread and expanded the crack and pumped and forced in clear Gorilla Glue and re-clamped it.)

I need/want to apply a "filler or putty" to cover the repairs and then smooth and shape the repairs and paint over them.

I hope to find a truly non shrinking filler to do the repair. What to use..?

A small batch of the non-running Acraglas gel product from Brownells is can be dyed with a drop or two of Rustoleum 1 hour stain. You can also use your smartphone and the Home Depot color matching app in sunlight to order a sample of the light and dark highlight acrylic paint to touch up. Then apply True Oil seal coat.

There are several examples here in this thread and the linked thread: https://www.rimfirecentral.com/posts/12878779/

Ended up going with Trapt's advise and got the JB Weld Kwikwood Product. Followed directions and after an hour I went with some wood files and rough shaped it. I have already put a dab of paint on it but should haven filled it a little better. I will probably sand the cap area down and see if I can do a little better job. Still pretty happy with the improvement.
