Purchased this French Walnut stock off EBay.
I was tired of the Hogue rubber over molded stock.

You are correct. How did you know it’s from Altamont?
Well this.......

because that's who has the Ruger contract to make their stocks at the moment..just like CWP used to have the contract for the Ruger laminate stocks
... and I bought a gorgeous stock along the same design as yours but different checkering. (y)

Also, for some time now Altamont has been selling off grips and stocks on various internet sites, surprisingly not their own Altamont.com site. The offers appear to be old stock, product overruns, perhaps minor damaged returns, prototypes, one of a kinds, I'd say stuff sitting in the warehouse and not moving. Lots of 1911, S&W revolver, odd derringer, Heritage Rough Rider, Ruger DA SA with occasional Mark XX and Buckmark and on and on. Seek and you shall find. I'm sure others know way more than these internet gleanings.

There is a surprising selection of 10/22 stocks some with the inscription "Property of Ken Enright", original owner of Altamont. I finally found some info relating to this engraving mark.

yeah, for some unknown reason Altamont dropped their stocks from their website awhile ago...

maybe doing internet sales was more trouble than it was worth....or Ruger won't let them sell stocks as part of their contract...I think that's what got CWP into hot water with Ruger, so they had to drop their stocks
