New Slavia - Lube or No Lube

Hello all, I'm new to springers and could use a bit of clarification.
I just ordered a new CZ Slavia 634. When I read reviews of this gun, many reviewers talk about the need to first fully disassemble / lube the gun before shooting because the factory did not fill them with lube. As said before I simply don't know about springers... so I don't understand why I would want to buy a new gun only to disassemble / lube parts against the factory manual recomendations. Can someone clarify? Is this necessary and why? Thanks

Recommend lubing

I own more than one CZ air rifle. They're a bargain at current price. Mine all benefited from a "lube tune". The factory lube usually does not include the spring. Use Maccari lube at this link http://www.airguns.citymax.com/catalog/item/251484/4169286.htm
Has enough lube for more than one springer.

Also check out this link. http://cherrytwist.googlepages.com/slavia631tune-up
Best link I've seen on lubing the CZ's. This one is for the 631 but 634 is very similar.

These air rifles are some of the simplest to work on. No spring compressor required like most air rifles.

One caution, when removing trigger, the trigger spring can pop out so be sure to contain it some how. A rag over trigger should work fine.

Good luck and enjoy your new CZ.

Best place to buy CZ Slavias

The best place to find and buy a CZ Slavia is www.Gunbroker.com. Go to the Air rifle section. There's a dealer in Tucker Ga. that lists them forsale. This is the only place I know that sells them new in the U.S. I have personally purchased four and have not had any problems with the dealer. He also has the best price I've seen. The CZ Slavia 634 is $129 plus shipping and is a great value at this price. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I've been checking on GB already, and the guy in Tucker GA has hundreds of listings, with no bids on any of them. Seems like he's not really interested in an auction, just an outright sale. If the stuff is just for sale, he ought to say so.

By the way, do you know how a Slavia would compare to an RWS 34? I could pick up a used one with a decent scope for $150.
