Gunblast review has impressive accuracy results at 50 yds: Dynapoint 3/8," Blazer 1/2," Wolf Match 3/4." THis is substantially better that a stock 10/22 carbine generally thought to be good for 1.5" + or - .5 at 50. Perhaps the barrel-receiver interface is more stable or the harmonics are better. You new owners hit your ranges and let us know if this new 10/22 is really this good.

Wonder if the trigger is the usual 8lb.

Wonder if a larger and cheaper scope can fit in the case than the Leupold shown in the review. Let us nkow what fits.

Is it true that long term storage of a rifle in a case promotes rust?

Ronhart International sells a great mini-scope kit (includes 3-9x40MM mini-scope, rings and Picatinny rail mount) for $78.00 prepaid to any US address. The scope is short enough to fit on the Ruger take-down model and fit in the case without removing the scope. The scope is sharp and clear and has a manufacturer's lifetime warranty.

This scope kit is currently posted on Ebay (3-9x40B Mini- Scope Kit for Ruger 1022) or contact them direct at ronhart77@juno.com .

I'm glad to see this released to give some competition to the AR-7 and Marlin Papoose.

However, what is the point of an 18.5" barrel on a take-down rifle? If I was getting one of these, I would be going for ultimate compactness.

It doesn't look like you could change the barrel out either. The services of a gunsmith would have to be enlisted to cut it down.

Looking at Marlin's web site...looks like the Papoose is gone....also it looks like Ruger copied Browning on the way the barrel takes down

My only question is, is there enough room in the pack to accomodate the receiver with optics attached to it or are you expected to remove the optics if you want to case it up? If so it would really be an iron sight only kind of gun. Very cool set up though.

Look at the very bottom of post #1 and there is the link to the Gunblast You Tuber and he puts it in the case with a small scope attached but it goes in so easy I have to think even a little larger scope would be fine.

Ruger should have made this rifle years ago!!:bthumb:

I just bought one from the Fountain Valley location. With tax, DROS, etc, they are $353.00 out the door. They are still at the $299.00 price.

The way it is set up they will definitely accomodate optics mounted onto the receiver when stuffed into the bag. You might not be able to fit a monster scope on it but it looks more than acceptable to me.

The scope that the Gunblast review shows fitting in the bag while mounted is a stangely proportioned and expensive Leupold with a very short front half. I fear most scopes will overhang too far to fit in the bag leghthwise. You new owners let us know what fits.

A problem with the stock Ruger rail is that middle tip-off section rises high enough to obscure the iron sights. With the stock rail installed and your scope packed separately in the bag, you can't just whip the rilfe out of the bag for a quick shot with the iron sights. Solution: There are rails available with slots down the middle that allow use of the iron sights.

I am lovin it. I am looking for a good take down for the camper and was lookin at the marlin papoose...but I am a big ruger fan....just called my lgs and he said next week he will get only two in. Got my name on one, so we shall see how good they are. The way ruger is running their company right now I exspect good things....:AR15firin

Yep, I'm going to wait for more reviews from those not selling them! I find it's accuracy being as good or better than a non-take down hard to swallow. The scope in the video either has a VERY short eye relief of it's mounted too far aft. Mounting it farther forward and I'd bet it wouldn't fit in the case....O.L.

Some people, like me need the scope as far aft as possible to be comfortable from many positions.

Also I think the fact that the scope is a "Straight tube" scope (meaning there is no bell on the objective side) throws some people. These scope used to be very populat but many shooter these days have never seen one:rolleyes::D

According to the manager I spoke with yesterday, Turners was one of two dealers west of the Mississippi to have the Ruger Takedown 10/22 in stock when the news was announced yesterday. I have a soft spot for Rugers and takedown guns so I purchased a couple of the TD 10/22s along with a nice 20ga Winchester 1300. The price of the TD 10/22 was $299 + tax/fees.
