Just got my REG'LAR, it's not perfect, I'm still trying to decide if I'll refinish the stock or not, it's really in pretty good shape, mostly a few scratches and dings.

It has the beautiful color of the bluing on the metal from years past, almost the rust blue look, it great shape, no patina.

Too cold to really shoot it, I'm sure itching to shoot it. My only other H&R is a 5200.

I'm saving for some other things now, but will be adding to my H&R collection in a while, this gun is built like a tank.

Here is the REG'LAR I bought (My thanks to Bob). It's been refinished once, not the best job, so I'll most likely get after it, just too nice of a rifle not to. Maybe a good time to get started on it would be this week, it's not going to warm up enough to shoot anyway. I'll post some picks when it's done.

Here is my 5200, re worked stock so I can see the peps and re finished, pillar bedded with steel bed, 4 OZ trigger and re cut crown, I love this rifle.

I like it, I'll bet the comb piece helps the sighting a lot.
How does she shoot?

Thinking of getting one in .223. I have tons of that ammo and could use a good short rifle with some to go along with the semi auto's, the ability to change barrels and calibers so easy is a real plus. I know they don't group like a really good bolt rifle, but that is not what they are made for. I hear they shoot great for the price and the convienance of having different calibers all in one rifle.
Plus the price is right. I really want a .223 Savage, but I'd want the one thousand dollar one and I don't have the money to spend.

Ultra Varmint in 204 on the top is now Jims from the post above...he now has a 204 and a 223 barrel for it and after we both struggled with the first fluted 204 barrel and a trip back to NEF it got re-barreled and I believe he is now MOA with it. :bthumb:

Thanks, Chaser for posting the pic of the Ultra Varmint. And yes, John, both the .223 barrel and the .204 are MOA. At 100yds. I cannot hold still enough to try MOA at 200. Heartbeats too big!!

I have both barrels scoped the same with Mueller Eradicators, zeroed for 200 (measured high at 100) and can't wait to hit the Montana PD colonies. Got screwed out of it last year, Motorhome generator went TU. $1000 and stay home...

Incidentally, the lower .204 in Chaser's pic was my backup gun for Montana. (Chaser's) Didn't get to use it....but he had my back.

Chaser got me onto the H&R Singles. They save ammo, force me to shoot better, feel good and are a bargain.

I've been secretly admiring these rifles for some time. I've been interested in a .223 or .308....what kind of accuracy and reliablity are we looking at? (I've always assumed that the simpler the machine the better the reliability).....

I went to their website and they have a rimfire as well...any feedback on the rimfires?

Every one I have had my hands on was fantastic...I own 17 HMR and 17HM2...love em'! Accurate as I am for sure. :D When I miss it's me.

I guess I just like the old one's.

The new single shot H&R's are a very good deal, but don't do a lot for me.

I'm glad to see people enjoying them and getting out a shooting.

I shoot almost exclusivly 22 LR, .223 and .308. Too many calibers just costs too much, different dies, brass, powders and bullets, just too much trouble.
It would take the fun out of it for me. There was a time I loaded lot of different calibers, but got rid of the rifles except for what I have now which is mostly 22 LR made by different manufacturers, mostly old and great shooters with Mossberg's being my favorite by far.

My Sportster. I changed the tupperware furnature over to wood from the factory. Added a Mueller APV scope with Burris Signature Zee rings. It shoots
5 shot groups under 1". I also have the HM2 Barrel for it that shoots as well as
the 17 HMR.

My son has used H&R/NEF rifles and shotguns for years. Last couple of years, I've been bitten by the single shot bug. I've got ruger no. 1s, CVA Wolf ML, and Scout. Since Sept., I've acquired a couple of H&Rs, a 20 ga. pardner, and just this week a .22 sportster. They are both becoming my favorites, especially for squirrel hunting.

first day shooting the sportster. It shot every brand of ammo I tested, well. However, this was the best. CCI SV LR. The gun isn't even broken in, yet, and has a trigger pull a tick over 4 lbs. To say I'm impressed is an understatement.
