A very dear older friend passed recently and his family is gifting me his handguns. One of them is an interesting .22MRF revolver. I've seen it once, briefly.
I believe (not sure) it's a J-frame, round butt (it had small grips, I think), with a short, two or three-inch barrel. I think it is nickel plated, not stainless. It was a presentation gun to a high-ranking state trooper, so it might be a S&W custom offering as far as barrel length or finish? The side plate has a presentation inscription.
It had been presented to the man who was my friend's boss at the time, and he immediately gave it to my friend. I think it might be unfired.
Model 51? Model 35? (I need a S&W reference book. Can you recommend any inexpensive ones that are decent?)
I'll post photos when it eventually gets transferred and my carry permit gets amended.
