Model 51s were built from 1960 to 1974. Nothing but 4" barrels are listed.

Model 35s were 6" barrels only.

Model 34s were in 2" or 4" barrels only. Nickle finish was available.

Model 650 was a heavy bbl 3" design. Produced 1983-1988.

Model 651 did have 2" & 4" barrels. Lew Horton did have a special run in 1998, but no info was given on what it was.

All info is from the 3rd Edition of the S&W Encyclopedia. My accuracy is worth exactly what you paid for it......................... 😁

Iscocoa is spot-on about the pics. Custom work could've been nothing but engraving the side plate?

Inside the frame with the cylinder open, the model number is stamped unless it's a way older gun.
