As I explained to my “infinitely better half” when about $3K off ammo was delivered this past week, I am simply trading against future inflationary cost increase pressures. I am sure you too are doing just that!

Just a good start. Not sure how much is on the other side of the garage in ammo cans, someday I may have to do inventory…got on a kick over the Holidays! There’s some on here with more trust me… I seem to shoot that salt gun next to the pile more than my 22s…

 

I hope that room is temperature controlled. I lost a case I left in the garage, due to heat. Just fyi.

Exactly why I am stocking up now. When I retire in a few years the budget will be a bit tighter and the prices higher.

To my defense, I’ve really just started getting into rimfire about a year ago. Until then, I stocked up on centerfire ammo. Also, in the last year alone, I’ve racked up 6 new rimfire suppressors

Almost 20% here. Definitely changes things when you're spending hundreds on a rifle to start with.

 

Dont feel bad if you can afford it and store it. Cases are the new bricks. Get your cost per round as low as the budget allows for. Once you get to oh wow this got a bit ridiculous, you wind up going shooting alot which is awesome. In one way there is enough and another never enough, just find your logical spot. Mine has to do with storage and when the wife complains I snuck some ammo crate into a random guest bedroom corner. Then I reorganize make it all fit and fill in the space I managed to make.

 

ugh this thread made me account for my recent use. I was like how did i use 3400rds of mini mags? Then was like "oh yeah not really too bad". Some cleanup made 'space for a case' now. Of course using chicken math thats really 2 cases. ROFL

You need a number of “truck bed” boxes or your just a beginner

 

I've bought 4 cases of different .22RF in the last 6 months in anticipation of recent price increases that has saved me $500 over current prices.

All kidding aside "what is enough" is subjective to use rate and pace, storage space, and finances.

Having alot does inspire shooting often if you have time since the money is already spent. Some people dont need that.

What I like to do is take that rate and pace, consider space and plan on having a year in reserve of the 'usual stuff' which varies depending on what your into.

I use a rule of halves around replenishment shoot half a case order another. If overall stick exceeds space pause a bit and catch up. What we each consider 'enough for a while/year' varies maybe it's a case , perhaps it's 10. I knew a guy that bought 9 by the pallet about once a decade.

 

You definitely have an extremely valid argument for buying a few more cases! IMHO, ammo prices aren’t going down anytime soon, considering raw material pricing / futures.

 

Which do you find most accurate in most rifles?

 

So far, SK Long Range, but, the weather has sucked here lately, and the rifle I just built hasn’t had its legs stretched yet. I’ll have a better range report within the next month or less.

 

After the ammo drought of 2020-21 or so, and seeing the prices that people were paying, I told the SO that I was going to crack the basement floor with ammo.

I'm still working on it.

I’ve got a few thousand of those, as well. I bought those during the great ammo drought of 2013

 

I have two unopened 5000 rd. cases of .22LR ammo. One is Winchester white box match ammo, and the other is PMC Target. I've had both for decades as I also have numerous 500 rd. bricks of various .22LR and .22Short that add up to over 6000 more rds.
Not sure there's such a thing as too much? Whenever there's a shortage I chuckle at those caught short.
