Model 90 rear sight

Hi everyone. I'm in the process of refurbishing a Winchester 90. I'm trying to replace the rear sight. it had a marbles sight on it.. i purchased a replacement with sight elevator from numerich for 3/8 dovetail. I'm not trying to make it correct, just want to swap out the sight. Problem is, when I got it, the sight doesn't have a dovetail. Does this need to be filed and fitted? Hopefully the link will work to show the one I ordered and received.

Anyone? Winchester 1890 rear sight. Want to put it in the 3/8 dovetail slot. This sight has a base that is more oval. Not a sharp dovetail. Universal? Need filing?

Most of them I’ve seen were held on with a screw, rather than a dovetail

Yes, you are correct. But under that sight is a 3/8 dovetail.

UPDATE: yes, it needed filing and fitting. Looks and works great. Just a little afraid of the unknown. Never had to fit a sight before.
