Has anyone added a bipod to their Model 60?

If so, what type and have you enjoyed the results?

I have the Winchester brand they now carry at Wal-Mart. It cost $39.95 and it works great on my 880SQ.

It doesn't have the cool features that a Harris or a Rock mount has, but for 40 bucks, I don't think you can beat it. I think it extends to 8 or 10 inches.

Here is a pic of it:

I just bought one of those Wincheser models and it has an allen wrench to tighten the mount to the swivel stud where the other brand has a large head screw that you can tighten by hand. And even though the legs look identical, the two legs were not spring loaded to return to minimum height where my other one was. Both features I consider a plus. Winchester for the same cost deleted them I guess.

The one pictured above has the large screw that can be tightened by hand and the spring return loaded legs.

Edit, the other brand I have was the one Walmart had pre Winchester.

I have a Harris bi-pod that I bought years ago for probably half of what they cost now! It attaches on the sling stud soo it goes on everything from my Marlin 60 to my Browning A bolt , AR ect... You can only shoot one at a time :) I know bi-pods are expensive, but you really only need one. I have heard good things about Stone Ridge. As long as the construction of the bi-pod is good who cares what the name brand is! If you guys run across a good sturdy one for a gread price let us know, My father would like one, but can't spend too much.

The Shooter's Ridge stuff is all labeled Winchester now...they bought 'em out.
GOOD bipods, got a couple on my rifles.

That Caldwell looks nice, good price too :)

I try to bipod every rifle I own...the additional precision & extra weight on the front definitely come in handly when you need a extra-steady shot.

My 917V and Savage 110 are using the studs that came with my Boyds' stocks. My 60 is using the studs from my factory 917 stock on another Boyds' stock that didn't include swivel studs. I had to buy a new front barrel band w/stud for my 336 to use a bipod or sling.

I just looked at my stock (stock) and there's no provision for a swivel/bipod mount. My Model 60 was mfg. in 1978. Now what  Do I get out my drill motor
You could drill them yourself or have someone do it for you.

You may need one of these to help with the installation: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=783373

Or you could try these: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=584885

No swivel/bipod mounting hole?

Boy - do I feel stupid :bonk:

Incidentally, I returned it to Marlin as it would continually jamb. They replaced all of the "innards" and returned for $100. I feel that's not bad as I got the gun for free (found it stashed in the attic of a house I bought.) I refinished the stock and added the Simmons scope.

I have to agree, those swivel bases would look nice on a custom or classic rifle. They should sell them in stainless as well, I guess steel in the white will have to do. They have three different styles, oval (pictured above) straight and European. A search for "Talley swivel base" at Midway should bring up all three.

Midway has this as well, might be a little easier to install:
