Anybody around the Twin Cities hunt for squirrels? I haven't found any good land since moving up to Minneapolis (from Mankato, and I always had spots there) and would appreciate knowing some places to hunt. If you want a hunting partner, shoot me a PM.

I can trade stock work for good land... no joke.

mankato's not that far from mpls......why not just go back there because your probably gonna have to drive about that far to get to some good woods anyways.....there are some wma's around the metro that hold lots and lots of squirrels, but they're either too small or run along neighborhoods....which mean no firearms hunting....bow only.....unless you wanna use a bow for them...but expect a good two hour drive to get anywhere decent....good luck

It's a good hour and a half... somewhat more than I'm willing to drive to shoot a few squirrels.

Is there really nothing else within an hour and a half of the cities? I'm located in the middle of Minneapolis so it doesn't matter which direction I go.

man if you have a spot in mankato I would just go back and hunt there because alot of wma areas close to the twin cities don't have alot of squirrels any more. There are too many hunters kill alot of them and the only one left are the one live in the city limits. I am frustrate every time I try to go out to hunt squirrel close to the twin cities and I can go for many hours without seem one that is on public land. I think you will have a better luck on pravite land than any public land out there. Every time I go I have to travel for couple hours out of twin cities to hunt squirrel and I am still couldn't find them cause too many hunters every where on public land. On the other hand if you want to have squirrel then try to contact land owner and hunt on private land and you will get your squirrels. Good luck on finding squirrel around the twin cities.

i too travel about 2-3 hours north and south to find some good hunting areas....check out the mn dnr site and find some places....i've noticed that a lot of people tend to head to the bigger wma's and state forrests....so if you can find a spot out of city limits with about 40 acres of so and has some mature hickories or acorn trees then you'll be in buiseness.....i did this last year and hit a gold mine.....but my lips are sealed......good luck

Are ya willing to drive too Northfield, its about 1/2 hr from you, If the traffic is not too bad.
I don't go until we get a hard frost. I like it when the leaves are just 1/2
on and off. So thats early Oct. to mid Oct.
I have to get permission on some private land yet & don't see any problem.
Best squirrel woods I have ever hunted in MN.
I do drive to my home town of Madelia & do a little hunting there also.
