Come on people, how often do you see a heavily curled Claro Weatherby style stock being fitted to a Marlin 57M .22mag?

Only kid on the block with one of these for sure! Did you inlet it? How is gripping it?

 

I am in the process of inletting, my workmanship is not as good as yours. I would like to put skip line checkering on it when I get it finished. Thank you for checking in on it. I did get the length of it a little too long as it is an inch past half the length of the barrel. I very much respect your work and watching your skills develop over the years right here on this site. Happy new year and keep on posting your projects. Not sure how to do the bottom metal on this one; factory just has a non inleted sheet metal plate.

It has nearly 1/2" left to lower into position and the lever should gracefully follow the grip and the top line up perfectly even though I am not left handed.

I worked on it a little bit today and have decided to make the bottom metal from tool steel inleted into the stock unlike the factory sheet metal piece screwed to the outside of the wood.

Nice wood! Good grain flow.

 

Thank you, it has a way to go until the grain is filled, but yes it has a lot of curl, color changes, mineral streaks and whatever that word is that explains being able to look deep into the grain. How is your checkering work load?

Oh wow, that is going to be a looker. Only bad thing now is that you won't be able to take it out in the wood and get it scratched up.
