I just bought a Marlin 2000 with the blue stock. Got it plenty cheap enough. It has The blade front sight and the peep rear. From the pictures, it looks pretty much "like new". Should be here in about a week. It'll be interesting anyway.

No marlin 2000 I know of came factory with blade front sight. They all came with peep and globe with an upgrade option of a tasco world class 6-24x40 scope and that wasn’t an option through the whole line. The other option was a summer biathlon kit to convert it from single shot to 5 shot repeater.

if it has a blade front sight something isn’t right.

Back when we had the big outdoor shooting facility the Summer Biathlon used to come to our range. We'd set up a big course through the woods that were adjacent to our place. They'd send a whold bunch of Marlin 2000's for people to use. I got to sight them in. They were impressive shooters

Those pictures are from my rifle.

OP sir

a standard Anschuts front sight base and front globe should work fine.
the rear is a Lyman but you can substitute a redfield peep if you desire.
My gun safe/room is out in my 12’x24’ shop building.
I’ll try to go out and look as I don’t remember what the front is but I believe it’s in the Marlin 2000 history write up I posted in the other thread that I linked to.

ps
A hooded Lyman front sight with seven inserts and companion target peep rear sight came standard.
Just have to figure out model number. Give me a few.

I have to take my wife to town to run some errands, when I get back I’ll go pull my 2000 out of the safe and see if I can find a number.

The Marlin 2000 with the blue stock that i bought has this front sight. Is this the correct front sight? Here is also the rear peep.

@mpolk

Mike, IIRC the front site should be a Lyman globe. I don't remember if it was a 17A or the bigger one 20 MJT (I have one on my 513T). I seem to remember it was the bigger one. I liked it and that's why I bought one for my 513T. But don't hold me to that

Got the 2000 today. It has Williams peep sights on the rear and the blade front. The gun is really in "like new" condition. It was made in 1993. For the life of me, I don't see any way to remove the front sights. Sure looks like that was the way it came, LOL. The actual blade is dovetailed in but if I put the 20 MJT on it it would be way too high, IMHO.

I'm gonna try shooting it tomorrow, using a 6 o'clock hold.

Okay, I dove the blade out and removed the front sight. I have a front mount from one of my H&R's. I guess the 20 MJT should fit that.

Don't know for sure that they actually had the 20 MJT. I did an image search and it looks smaller than the one I have on my 513T but it's hard to tell for sure

My front globe is substantially larger than my 513 I’m certain.
example of a 2000L matches mine.

I could resist this image.

the middle blue 2000 has a dovetailed base and dovetail driftable globe. Yours probably was switch with this base and had a ramp/blade from sight installed in place of the globe by an owner at some point in its life.
all the bases except for one is the same and everyone is held on by two screws.

im not saying it’s impossible that your came with a ramp front but I would think it highly unlikely it did from the factory.

In this photo there are sever different types of globe but all except one clamps on the base and the base is held on by two screws.

I have yet in my research and reading find one example that did not have a globe front and they were all the same diameter and sit low but they are larger than the redfield front globe on the 513T.

for lack of a better universal example
The inserts on my Anschutz front globe and my Marlin 2000 inserts are the same diameter and will fit both.

That's what I thought. Finding that sight base is gonna be fun. I have a bast and an olympic front sight i could put on it temporarily. Thanks
Anschutz sight bases will work and are easy to find.
Later this week or this coming week end I will pull my 2000L out and measure the base versus my extra anschutz bases. I’m willing to be money they are the same and the front sight for that base is the same diameter.

more pics and words for this thread later this week will be incoming.
Pm me you number and I’ll call you and offer any assistance I can to put that rifle back right.

James the marlin lover

ps
Remember there are two different front sight bases and globes used through the production pluse the Anschutz Olympic sight kit will also work with the dovetail mounting anschutz rear sight.
although fairly expensive they are worth every penny.

Psss
If you decide to go the anschuts sight system no one can really say it’s the wrong one and long as you get the right kit.

The best I can tell like previously said I believe there are two different bases for the 2000 series , one dovetail base and one Anschutz type clamp base. Both bases are attached to the barrel via two screws through the base into the barrel.
All 2000 barrels are D&T for screw on bases and this did not change through out production.
All globe front sights used the same inserts.

Early production
And late production that will work with the Anschutz / Savage sight base.

This rear peep should work
