I have owned many rifles over the years but I always found myself partial to the lever actions more than any of the others. My Marlin 39a and Winchester 9422m are my favorite two rimfires. I would like to see some pics of your favorite rimfire lever actions if you have them. Have a great day

I also have two Marlin 336, 2 Marlin 1894 in 44 mag, these two are the only rimfires, been thinking on getting a Winchester 9422 in 22lr.

My K prefix (1953) Mountie, the first year for the Mountie, 24" barrel and all. Too early to be drilled and tapped for a scope mount and I couldn't find a peep sight for it, so I added a vintage Burris 3x scout scope via an equally vintage 94 Winchester scout mount. Scope and mount don't affect the balance and handling, so just a sweet shooting 39, one of the nicest I've ever owned.

My only rimfire lever is a first year Ruger 96/22 that I bought for my kids when they were little. Slicked up the trigger and action and it shoots lights out. Had the pleasure teaching a friends 8 year old grandson to shoot on that gun during a break in hunting this year during deer camp. The gun and the young man both worked to perfection.

If BK is looking for ideas, I got this Win 9422 for 1/2 the cost of the above Marlin because the last owner let is get rusty and the gun shop took steel wool to the gun. They hurt more than they helped. I did a little more clean up. I am keeping the Marlin as an example of open sight lever and not crying about my old age and eye sight. I am plenty old with crappy eyes. The Win I have no hesitation to make some changes and setup with some sight that allow me to shoot this gun very well. I did mount a scope and play around with that too. I think if a scope is really needed the Henry is path of least resistance.

This is the final setup, Williams & Lyman. I am very pleased:

Should you want to scope the 9422, there can be issues:

I only have one rimfire lever rifle. It's a Marlin 39, made in 1952, just like me. I had placed a bid on it on GunBroker and then promptly forgot about it. Then, a few days later, I got an email telling me I had won the auction. I couldn't believe that no one had topped my meager bid.

The old rifle has a few nicks and dings, much like me! But, it's still a good shooting rifle. I'm not a big fan of the front sight hood and if I shot it more, that would probably be coming off.

I have one that my father bought for me that year when I was in the second grade. As far as the front sight hood it is easily removeable, just slide it forward, Be sure to keep in in a safe place, that hood by itself is quite valuable. At some point they changed and started making them with a flat top, and those old round top hoods I have seen go for around $100 on ebay. Looking at the blueing wear, I think I would clean and degrease the metal and apply a cold blue and simpley darken it up a bit.

In addition to the 52 model, I have two of the shorter Mountie models from the mid 50's and a 1897 Cowboy model from sometime in either the late 90's to early 2000's. It is one of the crossbolt safety models, straight grip, 24" tapered octagon barrel and it did have a rebounding hammer which I did not care for, so eliminated that. I did install a Marbles tang sight on it. The three older ones have original Marlin tip off scope mounts installed and the Mounties have old Weaver 2.5 and 3x K model scopes installed, along with Lyman receiver sights tucked under the scopes, scopes are in quick detacheable mounts so I can have either irons or scopes quickly.

Love the honest wear on that Marlin; nice to have that out in the field & not have to worry about it. :)
Thanks! She's been around the woods a time or two, I'd reckon. The only issue it had was a wallowed-out slot at the end of the mag tube for the pin on the magazine follower. The mag follower wouldn't reliably stay in the mag tube. I ordered a new tube from Numrich and in the meantime, came across a temporary fix for the issue; on some lever gun forum the suggestion was made to place an O-ring of the right size on the end of the mag follower in order to hold tension against the tube. I know it's a "Bubba fix" but it's worked great. 😃 The new magazine tube is still in the shipping cardboard.

That said, these pics show that O-ring to be severely cracked. I guess it's time to change the magazine tube!

Please excuse the fuzzy focus below, but it tells the tale 😉:

Dang, looks like that ring has also picked up some fuzz along the way. Downhome. 😄
