Hey folks ,
I am a big fan of the old school rimfire. The ones with wood furniture. I know the synthetic stuff is the new wave and more durable and worry free , but I am a certified lumber junkie.
The look of nicely figured wood on a rimfire(or any firearm for that matter)just makes my day. I make stocks every now and then for some of my rifles and always use the best figured stuff I have available.
If you have some nice figure on some of your rimfires I would love to see them.
Let's see those beautiful rimfires! Factory or aftermarket, show'em off.
Here is a pic to get things started. These are all rimfires that I have made stocks for. The 2 on the right are CZ's with 🍁 maple stocks and the 3 on the left are 10/22's with walnut stocks.

Two of my nicer ones -- with somewhat unusual wood, American Black Walnut and Mytrtlewood (both re-stocked Brno Model 1s, one of my very favorite rifles). Both done by our own Evan Koch.

Edit: If you go to the Stock Making forum, and search for ek-marlin-424, you can find Evan's step-by-step process doing both of these stocks (in separate threads). His work is fascinating and perfection.

I love all the colors popping out of that walnut stock. The Myrtlewood reminds me of Maple. Is it as dense as Maple? BRNO model 1's are great handling and shooting little rifles. You did them justice getting Evan to make those beautiful stocks for them. Top notch!

So there are highly figured woods like those guns in the first three posts. Those guns you are posting are just straight grained walnut. I have a CZ like that and I'm not sure what causes the vertical staining of the wood. It's not the finish yet it's not figure either. I'd be interested in finding out. I haven't tried to remove it so i'm not sure how deep the staining goes.

Mine may not be quite as nice as some of the others but certainly not plain either. I have Doug (dbr65) to thank for the 1712 below.

Remington 513T (yeah I know...ancient pic. I'll see if I can dig up a better one)

EDIT: Here's a pic I took of the 513T a couple years ago...
