I have a Kimber Model 82 Varmint Stainless. It was made in Oregon, is new in the box and has a 2 digit serial number. I was told that there was a limited number of these guns produced. Could someone tell me if this is true and if so approx. how many were made and what the value might be.

There are a bunch of different stories out there on the qty's of these rifles. From what I understand there were about 700 ea of these that were scheduled to be built. These being the Stainless Classic and the Stainless Varmint(20" fluted barrel). If you bought the Stainless Classic it came with a certificate for a book on the Kimber story that was to be signed by Greg Warne and numbered to your rifle. I have both of these rifles NIB and have the certificate for the book that came with the Classic. The company ceased operations during this time frame and never produced the book. It was advertised that there would be only 700 of the Classics built, not sure of the advertised qty of the Varmints to be built. Some say it was the same, regardless there seems to an opinion that these production numbers were never reached in either model, depends on whose story you hear as there is nothing definite to support any theory. I paid about 800.00 each for the 2 I have NIB with all supporting paperwork. I would guess any Kimber that is NIB, whether KOO or KOA would bring that or more as the used rifles bring just slightly less. For clarifications sake your rifle is a Kimber of America, Clackamas Oregon rifle. Now you have my story.

Kimber Varmint

Thanks CMJR,
Mine is the KOA (still made in Oregon) Stainless Fluted Varmint Model. I have a Kimber Collectors book that is signed by one their largest distributor (at the time) Laurence Friestatd (sp). He was very informative and a hoot to talk to. He said he "consulted" for the author of the book.

Thanks for the reply.
