Hello,

I just purchased a Model 82 Custom Classic left hand Kimber of Oregon .22LR. It has a 10 round magazine and I would like to find a shorter one (4or 5 round?). Any suggestions on where to look for such a thing?

Thanks

Kimber of America aka Kimber Manufacturing does not sell magazines for the Model 82. Theirs are K22 magazines.

Post a wanted ad in our Trading Post here. Make sure you specify the Model 82. Also, you'll find them for sale in the magazines and clips section of Gunbroker.com. Just do a search on "Oregon" in that section. Expect to pay over $50 for one.

Another option is a Winchester 320 magazine. There is one listed as a "Kimber of Oregon" magazine on Gunbroker right now. Note that it has a plastic follower. KoO issues had metal followers. The Win 320 will work, but it probably won't be flush fit on the bottom.

Kimber used both 5 and 4 round magazines. The 5 rounders came first and they went to a 4 rounder later after they slimmed the stock down. I believe that the 82c models used the 4 round while the original A model and the B model took the 5 round mags. ( SageRat and Kimberkook : please correct me if I am wrong on this)

Is your rifle marked Kimber of Oregon or Kimber of America (82C model) and is the barrel address Clacamas or Colton Oregon? What does the bold shroud look like. a one diameter cylinder (A model) or is is stepped / contoured?

Things to watch are the magazine followers.

The earlier Kimber 5 rounders used a chromed formed steel follower.
The Kimber 4 rounders used a diecast aluminum / zinc follower.

Either will work in an 82 but depending on rifle vintage and which magazine may be either flush, below flush or slightly above flush.

The Winchester 320 magazines used a black or orange plastic follower.

The Winchester will work in a Kimber 82 but is slightly longer and will stick out past flush about 1/16" to 1/8"

The 5 rounders are the priciest, then the 4 rounders followed by the Winshesters. None are marked so watch what you are buying and check the followers.

If you aren't successful getting one of those on Gunbroker, I have an extra 5 round Kimber mag with the chromed follower. It is used but in good shape. I bought it for my own use and wasn't planning on selling it but if you can't find one send me a PM or e-mail.

Thanks very much for the great info. My rifle is a Kimber of Oregon and it is a Colton gun. I was wondering about that because a friend of mine has a M82 that says Clacamas. What is the difference? Which one is earlier?

There are a couple of magazines for sale on GunBroker.com. I will try for the 5 round.

Thanks again. I'm, enjoying learning about my new rifle.
