Good question. I am retired and no longer travel that way. Actually west of Dodge City is on the way to nowhere!

 

Discount Tire offers free tire air/inspection. I’m always amazed. There’s a line. It’s almost a full time job for them.

The veterinary clinic we take our cats to has an enormous free coffee and packaged snacks counter. Which I suppose is a little different since they don’t get random foot traffic. The quality of the snacks is impressive though, and I’ve seen a few people inquire hesitantly about cost, and then load up their pockets.

 

My neighborhood Ace Hardware offers free freshly popped popcorn self serve for you to munch while you shop.

Oh man, that was a literal laugh out loud! I'm glad I'd put my coffee down.

The Metropolitan Opera offers free tickets to final dress rehearsals. No popcorn or coffee though. There are often large groups of local school kids in the audience.

When I was growing dahlias for sale on weekends, I did a mid week cutting to keep the plants in good shape and donated those to a local food bank. Sometimes I'd sit in my car for a bit and watch the smiles. It was delightful. I got more out of that than I ever earned on the weekends.

 

Several free tire inflators at tackle shops along the NC OBX. For those driving on the beach, everyone wins if you air down to 10 or 15 psi before driving on the sand. Truck drives better, and it makes smaller ruts. Free inflators attract customers and encourage good behavior, a win-win.

28 churches give out free food to the needy in some form or fashion in my county alone, we've been doing it for over 15 years at our church.

 

One of our local/regional businesses (Byrne Dairy) offers free coffee on Tuesday with their logo'd mug (initial cost of $1.99). They also still have free air, even if you don't buy any gas, which is 10 cents cheaper with their discount card. Even here in (rural) New York . . .
