The weather sucks,
The revolver is new,
I want to go shoot,
But, the rain says no

Happy Holidays!

It is stainless!

ha ha kidding. I don’t find standing in the rain enjoyable, didn’t like it in the army, dont like hunting in the rain, don’t like it now,
I do not like green eggs and ham,
I will not eat them with a fox,
I will not eat them in a box,
I will not eat green eggs and ham,
I will not eat them Sam I am!

I've never tried Colibris, but back in the day when they were "somewhat" reasonably priced (4c or 5c apiece when most bulk .22LRs could be had for 2c or even less), I shot quite a few CCI CB Longs in my basement. I have no idea what they sell for now--if you can even find them--but CCI MiniMags are now about 12c a shot and the cheapest .22s I've seen lately were about 7c a shot. Yikes!

Last year I got bitten by the airgun bug and have bought several of the Umarex CO2 replicas. They're not QUITE as good as shooting a real .22 (a couple of them get amazingly close!), but they only cost about 1c a shot to shoot, AND I can shoot them in my basement anytime the mood strikes me, rain, shine, or snow. I was shooting two of them earlier this morning--great fun! :D

Wow, I get too cold when it's in the 40s. I still shoot in the rain if there's a match but no need to practice outside. I have a membership in an indoor range that takes good care of my needs.

There is not a time that I don't carry one of my 617s with me. No matter how frustrated I may get at my autos the 617s always work. I prefer my 6 inch because I've had it forever. Just bought the 4 inch and I'm still getting used to it.

Trigger is set to 9 pounds DA and about 2 pounds Single Action. Grips are Hogue's Miculek grips that fit my hands better than anything else I've tried.

Fiber optic front sights on both, LPA rear on the 6 inch and I have mounts for C-More Railways when I want to shoot optics.

Hope your weather gets better. Get some DS-10 Speed Loaders and a loading block from Speed Beez. I don't like their speed loaders because they are $10 more expensive then the DS-10s.

I’m with AZSHOOTER, I’ve reamed my M18 and M17. I tried before polishing. They were mirror. But, fire 6 all stuck. Factory saami spec reamer from Brownells. I should make a video next time I buy a .22 revolver. ( so I can show before and after, as well as the process.) Think of it as chasing threads with a tap. The Revolver reamer has a shoulder, That, stops when it hits the cylinder face inside your recessed rim. I keep it well lubed with cutting oil. Generally, it’s not like you are cutting open a match chamber. It’s more like you are smoothing out a saami chamber.
Every chamber in both guns, one made in the 80’s and one new mfg. was slightly different. Some were rough in a few spots, some in a single spot. When I say rough in this context. I mean un-even. As both were nice and shiny, it was more like tight part way in then easy, then tight . Etc.
I literally use one index finger to turn, and the weight of the reamer and wrench. Of course maintain true, until started. Now I’m able to go thru a shooting session of a 100-200 ends then give a quick pass with a brush.

just a thought or two

My 4" M17 was like that. Had to hit the rod with a wood block. I sent it back to Smith, they fixed it one way another and returned it within 2 weeks. It's worked perfectly ever since. (Apparently this is not an uncommon complaint--I've read at least a dozen such stories here on RFC. Dunno how many of those followed my advice to return it to S&W.)

617 w/ 4'' is a sweetheart. Maybe S&W learned or i am lucky. The chambers on mine were never an issue right out of the box. * Anyone considering a pellet rifle should think about this. You could own several lesser 22s for the price we pay for the 617. It's the same for a high quality pellet rifle. The high grade pellet rifles are amazingly accurate. At 50 yards the 22 r.f. is hopelessly outclassed. Years ago the BR50 crowd witnessed this. I compromised on some accuracy to gain more velocity. RWS DIANA .177 is my squirrel getter. And ammo is cheap. I am OLD and also had great people to help me along the way. Stay safe and have a blast. YMMV
