I can't help myself!!

Off work this week and its been so dang hot I can't really do much outside including shooting so out of boredom I decided to go to a local gun store here.. thought I would check out what they had in the used 22lr isle.. and they had several.. but only one I thought about getting. A older wood stocked savage mark 2.. good looking old gun..

Before I took it to the counter I thought I better see what kinds of cz's they had.. they had a varmint and a couple Americans. A mtr and one other one there I didn't recognize.. picked it up and dang it felt good in the hand.. had open sights on it with a hooded front sight and a adjustable rear sights that adjusted from 25 yards to 200 yards.. once I shouldered the rifle I just turned around and took it to the counter and gave the guy my debt card..
Now im the proud owner of a cz457 lux 😁

Nice find! The lux is a very sleek rifle to the eye indeed. The fit and ballance is hard to pass up once you pick it up too. I loved mine but it eventually reminded me of just how bad my old eyes have gotten.

p.s. I'm green. There isn't a shop within 70 mi of me that generally stocks more than one or two CZ's max..
FWIW, here is a picture of my own Lux after I refinished the plain as a popsicle stick stock.

I can relate to “I can’t help myself!!” With me it’s not only buying guns on impulse though.

About a month ago I was accused of climbing out the bathroom window, sneaking around the side of the garage and into my shop during the movie. In the fist place I never said I was going to go see a man about a horse and in the second place if I tried climbing out the bathroom window I‘d probably break my neck.

I did have to admit that I did get up and head in the direction of the bathroom, and in the interest of full disclosure, did look real quick to make sure the coast was clear before making a left turn and slipping through the kitchen, downstairs and into my shop instead of continuing down the hallway in the direction of the bathroom.

Sneeking them into the house is a great part of the fun.IMHO. Not that my wife would object, mind you. But she has been known to make the assumption that we have extra $ for foolish things like furniture and vacations when see see's me walking in with a new gun.

Oh ive heard this story a 1000x's , over the past 10yrs ive been here .
Its always the same.
I just happened by the local gun shop..
Like whens the last time some one said...i happened to stop by the barbershop to see the new styles...so honey what do ya think?..
Hahaha...i guarantee that has never happened here..
Hahaha..
I dont know buddy..i think i would cherish that older savage a little more then the CZ..both wonderful finds, nothing crazy..just nice solid shooters..
I know that savage will shoot unless some one damaged the barrel..that CZ is gonna shoot just as well probably better.
I could see for a good price i would have grabbed both..play with both..keep both, sell one here.
If ya dont like it.
Its a pretty easy habit to form..almost embarrassing..
We buy, trade up, trade down, sell side to side some times ..hahaha..it just depends on the direction of the wind..
I dont think there's many shooters more finicky then a rimfire shooter.
Its just so much dang fun..
All of it..shooting, buying selling comparing talking and on and on..
Im in love with it. Always have been
If your looking for financial sympathy your in the wrong place..but we will gladly help keep your addiction in 5th gear.
Were good at that..
Hahaha..all in good fun.

Hey..when you open up the bolt, and smell the inside of the action. Do you prefer the sent of one rifle over the other?.
Does the savage smell different then the CZ?
Its voodoo like that, or complete insanity why its hard to stop the flow of 22"s from following you home.

I say nice finds. Looks like a stable foundation for any collection.

I think i finally got a scope on this lux im happy with.. I put a zeiss conquest 3x9x40 Mc on it.. I think this rig will work well in the squirrel woods. I also added a nice leather sling to it from tourbon classic outdoor gear. The sling has a pouch that holds 2 5 round magazines and will also hold 14 in a bandelaro. Think that's what their called. Lol

Excellent purchase Gman. I think that the Lux is going to me next on my list. As another poster said, those hog back (European style) stocks are very comfortable and a scope mounted low just works great. My KDF K22 was my Squirrel rifle for 40+ years. While the rifle was outstandingly accurate it was the stock that made it so easy to shoot.
Love the sling also Gman. I've used a similar one for a long time, it was made by Bianchi and called their Cobra sling if anyone remembers them.

Post some targets when you can.

JD sir my wife and daughters had TV/Movie night every Friday night and as we all sat down with popcorn there were a lot of times I never made it back from the bathroom and Tacoma sir when I was fully infected with CZitis and bought 5 CZs in five months. One sunday moring my wife asked me to go to the market to get eggs and milk for breakfast. I had just posted a picture of my new CZs on the forum at the kitchen table on my laptop. When I got back from the market my laptop screen was in full display caught redhanded. :ahh:

Today I own 16 CZ rifles with most of them with a hogback stock design, my first CZ was a 452 Fullstock in 22mag. I own a handfull of Fullstocks, Lux and Trainers in 452s, 455s and 527s. I don't own any 457s yet but my first one will be a 457 Lux in 22mag, then a 17hmr, then a magnum pair of Americans.

Nice looking rifle. (y)

If someone makes a sideways comment regarding my midday siestas my 16-year-old daughter tells them that she assumes that almost every night I'm headed down to my shop between 02:00 and 04:00 and back upstairs at 05:30 - 07:30. Her mother said that is pretty much the pattern.
