Without buying more, my rimfire ammo will last until...

2020
2021
2022
2023
2024
2025
2026
2027
2028
2029
2030 and into infinity

I don't really know how to create a poll. Will this create itself or just become a thread? May need help.

Well now med grade ammo is 50$ a brick my shooting has slowed way down.

All my high end ammo will serve as distance 100yds and more groups and putting data on paper.
All my mid grade stuff I will only paper punch to check zeros and shoot squirrels.

I don’t have any junk bulk ammo.

I have heard fed auto match is appearing back around for 18$ 325 rounds. Box bulk.
Will see.

Ammo I have now if only squirrel hunting should last 10yrs

Lasting 22 ammo

It will last until more becomes available. Once I'm satisfied that I have matched ammo and firearm to the best reasonable results, I will shoot minimally until more is available. If I start to get below a minimum level (500 rounds per rifle/ammo match) I will stop shooting. Currently have about 10,000 rounds of 22lr. I won't spend crazy money to replenish just to have it.

Funny I was doing the math on this yesterday ,, I’ve got three years or so with me shooting the same as I do now,, but I would slow down long before I got close to running out,, I really hope this drought doesn’t last that long so I can stash more..

a hundred a week.......?

How does that translate for you?
And hour a week, two hours maybe, or perhaps 30 minutes????

I’m curious because everyone is different in pace in every discipline.
If I’m just shooting at steel plates 100 rounds maybe a 30 gig and if I’m punching paper a 100 may last a couple hours.

For my personal recreational shooting,,,
It is actually about an hour.

I mainly use single-shot rifles,,,
Or repeaters with a single-shot adapter.

I got all of my speed shooting ya-ya's out many years ago,,,
Back then I would burn through a brick of .22 in 2 hours.

I'm all about slow fire long-ish range shooting now.

You have to be a supporting member to post a poll per the "member benefits" page https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/payments.php

If I knew how long I was going to live I could tell you how much ammo my heirs are going to inherit.

My plan is last day, last dollar, last round, and then off for a long peaceful well deserved dirt nap. Best laid plans often go awry though :p

When I run low on 22 ammo or centerfire ammo, I will simply conserve what I have until there is an opportunity to resupply. Those complaining they don't have any ammo to shoot and will spend $100 to buy 500 rounds were not well stocked in the first place. 5000 rounds of 22 ammo at less than $200 a case was not hard to buy a couple years ago or bulky to store. One just needs to view ammo like a future investment and a hedge on inflation.

While I have enough ammo, its something I cant make. I can make money, so getting ammo isn’t really a problem , until they dont make it anymore. Then we’ve all got a problem.

That aside, today i went shooting, and rather than take the premium ammo , I opted for a blue 525 box of Federal Champion that i bought before the last ammo shortage. It fired just fine out of a Mark II pistol. Ive got quite a few of these.

I know the 5000 rounds of Winchester bricks, in the little wood crates that i kept on getting at Xmas for the last 10 years will be junk, but maybe ill sell those, or trade them . Or regift them.

Once someone gave me the bucket of 1600 golden bullets. I waspolite and said thank you. And those were regifted .

But if i see a box of ammo at a good price, ill buy it, on the off chance that someday ill be happy i did. Cause the only thing worse than expensive ammo is no ammo. And im not gonna let that happen!

Back in the day, when I could check out a full can of 45 acp, 9mm, or 5.56, with nothing more than to sign off an expenditure report, I had the attitude that I didn’t care to bring work home. Little did I know then, how much I’d miss that never ending flow of ammo, so never planned for the future when I had the opportunity.

Is 2023 a January 1st or a December 31st ?

How long will your supply last ? Is the year the entire year or until that year starts ?
Edit: I guess I did not understand the question, sorry. I am shooting less and do not think that will change over the years to come. And none of us know how long we will live. Potentially I have enough to last me the rest of my life.

I have somewhere around 28,000 rounds or so of .22LR so I am good for around 10 years. I have lots of other calibers I shoot too but dont have near the stock as with the .22LR. I am down to probably 3000 9mm and have slowed down shooting those. I also shoot .22 mag, 5.56 and a lot of shotgun clay target stuff. If prices ever get back to normal I will build up my inventory on all of it. I would like to have 50K of .22LR, 15K 9mm, 10K .22 mag, 10K 5.56, 10K .45 ACP.

3000 rounds of 9mm seems like plenty for the average shooter along with other calibers. I think if you have 1000 rounds of reserve ammo for each of your main defensive calibers like 9mm and 28,000 rounds of 22LR to maintain shooting proficiency, you will be well stocked for a LONG time.

What I have started doing during my hand gun sessions is limiting myself to 1 box of 9mm per session along with 100 rounds or so of .22LR. This seems to be working for me and I haven’t seen any degradation in my skills. I also picked up a laser target and bore laser for dry fire practice. Not sure this is helping but its fun for practicing drawing from a holster. Theses few changes should help me get through this current ammo crisis. I was buying and building inventory throughout 2018 and 2019. Glad I did...as I did not see this coming. Building up my inventory was just dumb luck...i wasn’t even shooting or owning firearms until 2017.
