I’ve mentioned a few times about a little disappointment in a hawke scope I bought for one of my 10/22’s. It’s a vantage 4-12x50 AO. Nice looking scope but that’s about where the positive stops unfortunately. I really really wanted to like this scope. Has all the features I wanted. I had it on a nice custom 10/22 but after shooting with it, I deemed it not worthy and bought another scope and threw the hawke in the drawer for a couple months. Well that’s like $180 just wasting away so I took the crappy bug buster off my air rifle, bought some new rings and put the hawke on the air rifle.
went out in the yard and sighted it in. Looks really good on the gun, but omg the clarity is HORRIBLE. HORRENDOUS. ATROCIOUS. it was so bad that my eye would water looking through it. Horrible fatigue. No matter how I adjusted it, could not get my target and reticle clear. I went down to 6x and 7x at the 25 yards I was shooting at. It was dark but I had a floodlight on my target.
I knew it was bad, but i didn’t realize just how bad it is until I went grabbed the 10/22 that I replaced the scope on. I didn’t even put anything special on it, a bushnell legend 3-9x40 Illuminated. On 9x full power my target at the same distance was absolutely crystal clear. No fatigue. And the clarity was no comparison. The legend is somewhat of a cheap scope costing a little less than the hawke, and the hawke is not illuminated. Maybe this isn’t typical of hawke, but the disappointment I have is pretty great. Thoughts? Anyone have good luck or satisfied with hawke?
