Has anyone tried Norma Match-22?

I still have a few bricks. It always shot very well. I’ll have to do a comparison. The current tac22 shoots very well in my weapons. The match22 is not as greasy, maybe the lube is the difference. Spoke to Norma and they said they were no longer producing the Match22. I wonder if it is the same ammo with a rename Since the tactical thing is so popular ?

That make sense with it being out of stock and it may be the same with a rename although the price difference got my attention. My rifles shoot Tac22 very well also and I bought enough to last for a long while.

The Norma products I've tried were all hunting or plinking ammunition.
Vertical spread matched the chronograph measurements.
ES for the box of 50 exceeded 70 fps each time.
Norma Tac22, Match and Subsonic each showed hot and weak charges.
Not good enough for benchrest use, adequate for offhand and short range.

Jaia, not trying to push buttons, just wondering if this statement is hypothesis or based on discussion with a factory or distributor rep. And I agree with your assessment of the Norma ammo, I do find it a great 50 yard or so fodder but not competition quality.

From 4 sources JD

Manufacturers date codes on the boxes

From personal testing at 50, 100 and 200 yards using a ballistic chronograph to verify results.

From the head stamps visible on each cartridge.

From the price per cartridge comparisons vs cartridge specifications on the retail sites.

Wouldn't be difficult to contact Norma customer service to verify either, would it?
I already contacted CCI and RWS. :D

From the Norma "about us"....

the production and supply chain within the internationally renowned group of RUAG Ammotec, gives Norma the edge to stay in front when it comes to innovation, quality, and consistency.

It's back on the Norma website as "out of stock" in the new red box, along with "TAC-22 Subsonic" (also red box). Maybe they are bringing it back? At $7.99/box of 50, it's more than I'd pay for it.

I have some of the white box Match-22 in the cupboard; my buddy @Patriot_MD and I traded some ammo; he gave me Match-22 and I gave him TAC-22 (red and black box IIRC), he threw in some Remington/Eley Club also. I haven't tested either of them, but he said the Match-22 wasn't very good...one of these days I'll try it out, not really in a hurry, the local indoor range is only 25 yards, so unless it's really bad it wouldn't really show up on paper anyway. The outdoor 100 yard range is a 45 minute drive each way. Maybe after a morning of squirrel hunting I'll stop by the range (same state land) and give it a go, after it cools down this fall.

I must be the outlier, as I tested Norma Match in 2020/21 and found 2 of 3 lots that shot on par with SK Rifle Match that I had available at the same time. This was through my Vudoo and based on group and chrono testing. Tac-22 was noticeably inferior with much larger ES and SDs. At the time our local Sportsman's Warehouse chain was closing it out, and I was able to buy about 3k rds at $5/50 box. I have lot #'s if anyone is interested...

I’ve only had one brick of Norma Match. I shot a 50 yard 6x5 target with my CZ 452 that averaged in the low 3’s. That is on par with the average lot of Center X in that gun. That brick is long gone so I can’t test it against my current lots of Tac-22. There are just so many variables when comparing 22 , wind by far being the biggest.

I checked a few minutes ago, and it is back in stock at $7.99/box, free shipping on orders over $149, plus sales tax.

Thank you for all the comparison results. With the above comparisons of this ammunition to Tac-22, I will stick with Tac-22. It works very good (well, good enough) in my target-built-on-a-budget-and-lots-of-good-epoxy-and-a-Weaver-T24 10/22. Tac-22 is very greasy; so greasy that I load my ten 10/22 magazines with a Lula loader, wearing a nitrile glove.

Anyone here remember when Jeep added “Trail Rated” to their vehicles?
Being able to get stuck where other people can't get to (to get stuck),
suddenly went from ALL Jeeps, to only a few select $$$ models.

IF the "new and improved" Norma Match is more than just a cheap
marketing gimmick, look for future Norma Tac-22's to slowly become
less accurate, as they begin to ramp up their 'ammunition sorting' process.

I am sorry I cannot put numbers to this. Back in the day, pre-riots, I purchased a brick of Norma Match and it out shot CCI std. And CCI is my standard ammo, my favorite. I posted my amazing results and purchased 2 more bricks Norma Match. I did not now about or look at lot numbers. The other 2 bricks did not shoot as well as CCI Std.

I also tried TAC22 and it was worse than the not so good 2 bricks of Norma Match. Based on the name and marketing I was not surprised. Or as posted else where, not disappointed.

In summary, at that time, CCI Std appeared more consistent and predictable then Norma. I got one AMAZING brick and that was that.

FWIW, I recently received a couple of emails from Norma touting their Match .22 as a 'new' version w/improvement insinuated. $7.99/50 and it may have mentioned something about free shipping after a certain threshold was reached, but I could be disremembering. Last TAC .22 that I acquired from them, I've not had the opportunity to shake down properly, but the price was attractive and their older stuff I have on hand of that ammo shot very well for what it was.
