Hank’s Belts? Other recommendations?

So, I used to buy my belts from Orion Leather, but since they are no longer in business, I need to find a new purveyor. Not looking for a gun-specific (ie double layer), just a well-made overbuilt belt. Buy once; cry once has always served me well!

Anyway, I keep seeing ads for Hank’s Belts with their 100-year guarantee, but I figure that if they are spending all their dough on running ads, they must be cutting corners somewhere else.

Or am I way off base? If you have first-hand experience with Hank’s, good or bad, please share it. If you know of a fantastic belt-maker that is less well known but still puts out a fine product, I would also love to hear about THEM!

Thanks!

Literally wearing a Hank's Gunner belt right now. Had it for a couple years and I like it. Very stout belt yet it doesn't look like a gun belt. Can't say I've got lots of experience with other heavy-duty gun belts like it but I think I'd recommend it.

I have bought 2 belts from Hank's. Pleased with both of them. I believe they are called Gunner belts. Double layer stitched. I got lucky they had a page with some listed as not first quality. I think I paid about $40.00 for each one. The brown, I could not find anything wrong with it. The black one, I noticed some imperfections in the leather but nothing to affect it's durability.
I used to make belts and holsters in my younger days and have taken of my wife's saddles.
Hank's makes a good product made in America. That's good enough for me.

Having recently lost some girth. I bought a leather punch to add more holes to my belts. Now the issue is what to do with the extra 6 inches of leather flopping about my waist. Ive been using hair scrunchies slid on the belt after the firs loop. .

Sad to say,but I now thread my belt onto my pants before i put them on:eek:

Checked out Hanks website. Nice belts. I like the Premier dress belt 1.5" in Butter. Of course they are not in stock in my size. $175 is not too bad if its a nice belt. Probably last a life time if you dont wear it everyday. But then again, at my age, whats a lifetime.

I bought a Mernickle belt ~10 years ago on a friend's recommendation. I wanted a nice semi-custom belt to go with my Ruger Vaquero (along with another maker's holster).

Liked it so much that it's become a daily-use belt. Has held up better than any I've ever had. It's "worn in" a tad at the ends but still plenty stiff enough to support my holsters well. Veteran/family owned and handmade in the US, if that's a consideration...

I've been using the smooth leather "$30 gunbelt" for over 5 years now. Full 1/4" thick leather and it is a thick leather belt. It shows no appreciable wear from carrying a full sized 9mm in a leather OWB holster.

Trying to decide if I want a shorter belt. I lost some poundage and am actually down to the last adjustment hole.

Some belts have gone over $30.There is still one available for $29.99 :bthumb:

Had a bit of a buzz on last night and ordered a Hanks belt. Bison in peanut. Hopefully the color is close in real life as to what is on the screen. The reviews said the Premier was a bit stiff. I like a softer leather. We’ll see.

I'm wearing a Relentless Tactical gun belt. Started out stiff as a board but it softened up. I hasn't rolled over at the hips like cheap belts. I bought a second one so I didn't have to swap it from work clothes to my street clothes.

I've wondered how well the belts with spring steel inside work for gun use and daily wear.
