Seriously, I can't believe I got a brand new Volquartsen Carbon Fiber THM barrel that looked like this today after a 5 month wait. It's going back for a replacement!!!!!

I VQ Carbon Fiber Barrel was "Perfect". These things do happen though, I hope you get it resolved. I had to send my MKIII to them for a faulty sear, so they told me to send the whole lower to them to look at. They sent it back with a new sear and the shipping was super fast. Great customer service.

:shakehead:Thats not the norm for Volquartsen barrels at all. I dont know how that got by there QA inspection ? I've bought and sold over 100 VQ barrels and I've never seen anything like that ! I would call Scott Volquartsen and email him this picture if I was you. I know Scott and he would be p*ssed off about this (Big Time)

That's exactly what I did and exactly who I got a response from shortly after 8am this morning. This sort of thing can happen. I also had a VQ bolt one time with a firing pin that was too long. One dry fire and it peened the barrel face. I had to send the bolt and the barrel to VQ for fixing that time.

Well the ring you see is where the barrel liner is threaded into the sleeve. No big deal there. But the rest of the galling and plain unfinished aspect he said was that it just somehow missed the 'facing' operation.

From what I can tell, I think it missed the final chamber ream as well. I can slide a cartridge in and out fully, no problem.

Got the new barrel in today and the breech face looks much better. Hurried up and installed it and forgot to take a picture of what they are supposed to look like. Here's the finished build though. I was going to have a black bolt, completely black barrel, and black bolt handle, but I could not wait any longer on the barrel. 5 months was long enough for this one. And I had to return the black bolt due to missing parts and the black handle was not up to snuff. Regardless, I like the results.

Yes let us know on that Fastfire red dot site I have a Pentax red dot site on one of my 10/22's that I use for my wood chuck problem in my yard and it works good for that. So far it is holding zero but I just wonder how the real cold will effect it this winter esp when I go out when it's 20 below zero??
