Going price for a 63 no dash?

I saw a nice model 63 Smith and Wesson at a fun shop and they were asking rIght $1000. The gun is a no dash and is probably 95%. I am out of town and don’t have my Gunbroker password or I would search it myself. Is that the going price for a clean no dash these days? Any help or opinions is appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks gmd1950! I am probably behind the times as well. It is hard for me to imagine that many of the guns that I purchased for 3 or $400 in the past are now in the $1000 range for value. Any other comments on the value of this gun is appreciated!

You can still find deals on gunbroker every now and then. You just have to always be watching and ready. I have picked up three rimfire revolvers for at least $200 less than the usual going rate. You just have to be patient. Another tip is that used guns are in less demand than brand new ones. I usually look for used versions. That's where the added value can be found.

basically any shiny no lock, especially in weird or less common config is around 1000 in nice condition, regardless of model. Figure a MIM with lock new j frame is like 500$ anyway and 317/617 much more new even.
I have a 62 no dash 2" with traget sights, very endearing little pistol but not sure why I own it TBH, its not going to get knocked around as a 'tackle box gun' and if I CCW a j frame it aint that, id pick a 43c first if it was a 22lr. Its fun going after IPSC at 30 yards with it though :)

Agreed on the $800-$1000, and $800 is probably a pretty good price right now. I have not seen a new-ish 3” 63 with the lock and the MIM parts for $500 though, at least not recently. I think that would be a very good price unless it had been hammered, something we don’t see that often, as was mentioned. While I prefer the older 4” 63s, I don’t have nearly the aversion to the newer 63s as some here. In fact, many prefer the higher capacity and 3” barrel. The MIM parts don’t bother me, nor does the presence of the lock, it’s the poor aesthetics with the lock there and the larger size that bothers me. I still consider them to be very nice handguns, however. I even just bought a new 317, the first NIB handgun I’ve purchased for probably 20 years. I will say it was hard to pony up nearly 8 bills all in for that aluminum revolver that feels like a toy…but it is a very nice toy.
