No, the front sight hood of the model 2 is a bit different compared to the mod. 1. Mod 1 has a cylindrical shape, while mod 2 is a bit crushed, here the pics…, first one is a mod. 2

I think the left side photo is the model 1 hood?

 

Hi, left is is a mod. 2 hood dtd ‘60, right my mod. 1 dtd ‘52. Apart from the shape, also the finish is a bit different. Hi polish on the mod 1, while the mod 2 seems parkerized ( for sure it isn’t, but it’s a matt blueing).
Same identical hood of the model 2 is on my zkw 465 dtd ‘63, but in this case with polished finish.

 

I was going to say hose both look like m1 hoods, and M1 barrels...the early model 2 sight hoods I've seen and had, were completely different than the 1 hood....longer and contoured...more slim...hard to explain and I can't find a picture unfortunately

 

Thanks for the responses. Both photos of the hoods do look the same but perhaps its just the photo angles. They both look rounded and certainly doesn't look like a lot of difference. I own two model 1 Brnos so already know what they look like so if its not too much trouble Paolo if you could please just re-send only a single photo of the one you are calling the model 2 that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi MFFM, the hood of the model 2 is the one posted by Nevadany (his 2nd photo). In case u need more photos let me know. I did a little research, you guys are right. Early mod 2 hoods are exactly the same posted by Nevadany in his first msg., later model 2 had the other one represented in my first pic, and same hood was fitted on zkw465 hornet and may be on later mod. 1. (Early mod 1 had the one shown in my 1st pic, which is a bit different in shape).

 

This is the best picture I can find. I had gotten one of these hoods from Denny a long time ago, he said it was an early model 2 Hood.

 

And I saw this one..not familiar with it, but it is a reference and in like the one Paolo is showing..M1 ish, but slightly different...

 

I think the early model 2 hood from Denny looks very much like a Mauser hood😄 I better just stay out of the hood business. I’ve had 3 model 1’s and a model 5. Never a 2.

 

Paolo_k… do you know when they switched from one style hood to the other for the Model 2? I just picked up a 1956 Model 2 and want to make sure I look for the correct hood. Is this the one I should be looking for?

I wonder if a Mas45 hood is the same?

 

So I got extremely lucky and scored a flat side covered wagon style Brno sight hood for my 1956 Model 2. I also got one of the rounded, squat/crushed hoods as show in the first picture by Paolo_k. Interestingly, that squat/crushed hood is the same one that is on my Brno 581. I’m kind of thinking that Brno was using either style hood as they rolled out the Model 2 using whichever they had on hand.

 

Finally got the correct hood for my ‘56 Model 2

 

Where did you find your front sight hood? I have a No 2 that needs one as well.
