Finally Got My Victor

Finally made it to the local shop to pick up my Victor I put on hold a little over a month ago.

Got it home and put on a new set of grips I had gotten from another member on here. The ones it came with had the thumb rest ground off unfortunately. Gave me the opportunity to check out the frame when the panel was off, and no cracks that I can see.

Feels really nice in the hand, little on the heavy side, but that doesn't bother me. The thumb rest grips feel really good.

Came with 1 mag, with a green follower.

The arched backstrap doesn't bother me. Seems like it was very well done too. The add-on piece was fit to the frame contor, and looks to be silver soldered on (I could be wrong). No pins or anything that I can see. Plus it looks like it was stippled to match the existing frame.

I do have one issue with it. Seems like either the trigger is bound up, or the return spring is shot. I can manually move it back and forth, and it fires as it should, but it has almost no spring pressure pushing it forward when it is cocked. Will need to look into this a bit.

Overall, I'm pleased with the pistol so far. Especially at the price of $450. Can't wait to get it out to the range.

I had a Bob Shae Victor, mint the barrel was perfect I took it off wrapped it in a scope box and but it on the shelf..after I purchased a custom barrel from MGM I believe...haha..im sorry it was years ago..but if your interested I believe Mike is the only one ya want ..
My new barrel was fire!..boy was it a sweet set up I had an aim point red dot..I could shot shoot the eyes out of a bird in a tree..hahaha.it was pretty impressive
The magazines are another subject..what a major pain in the butt..oh and forget about cold weather use ..my gun was so tight it would drag no matter what I used..
It's a true target pistol..I dont care what any one may say..to this day it is by far the most impressive pistol I've ever owned..you still don't understand...I had a pistol that actually had a soul..what ever it was Mr Shae would do to those guns was nothing short of voodoo R.I.P. Mr Shae..
I actually reached out because I wanted to ask Mr Shae if he would take a picture holding my pistol he built...but he was ill and passed shortly after I found him..
It made me sad..sad enough I sold the gun..
I dont know why it was something I felt I had to do..I still can't explain it..I even deleted my photos of it so it could all die a natural death perhaps...
That's one of my choppy gun stories

Thanks for the info. I found a few old RFC posts about people with the same issue, and found a few fixes (the fix you explained above, grime / rust on pivot pin, possible missing / incorrectly installed sear bar spring, possible binding of sear bar).

I planned to tear it down for a deep clean, so I'll check out all the items while I'm in there.

Thanks!

Quick update.

Took off the barrel and the slide last night. The pistol is filthy, lots of powder residue all over. Needs a deep clean for sure. I can also see powder residue down in the trigger bar area.

Tested the trigger / hammer / sear with the slide off (yes, held the hammer to prevent it from hitting the frame). Looks like it all works as it should, but definitly gummed up. Could be a mix of powder residue and old lube.

Hopefully a tear-down and a good clean / lube will fix the issue.
